Dr Vaizman is a sociomusicologist, a research fellow at George Washington University, with a PhD from the University of Haifa. He was a lecturer at the Open University of Israel for several years, a research fellow at the Hebrew University and Bar-Ilan University, and a music educator for over 20 years. Tal’s research interests include music consumption in the streaming era, youth culture, identity and socialization, music mentoring and culture fostering among immigrants, algorithmic recommendations, music education and online learning, personal characteristics and approach to art, and more. Dr Vaizman is currently a fellow at CASJE (Collaborative for Applied Studies in Jewish Education), where he conducts research that deals with the implementations of current youth culture on Jewish education within Jewish camps, and on the understanding of “Israeli connections” following the events of October 7th.
