Blumenthal wins, Hodes loses in Senate bids

If you care about how many Jews serve in the Senate, early returns contain bad news and good news.

In Connecticut, Democrat Richard Blumenthal has defeated pro wrestling mogul Linda McMahon, a Republican, according to NPR and Reuters.

Than means Connecticut will be represented by two Jews in the Senate – Blumenthal and Sen. Joe Lieberman, an independent.

Just around the corner, the AP is projecting that Kelly Ayotte, a Republican, has defeated Rep. Paul Hodes, a Democrat and also the state’s first Jewish congressman, in the race for an open seat.

Ayotte, you may recall, was conspicuously endorsed by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
