Chabad shooting in San Diego and what to do next?

Two days of Passover finished and I exited Yeshivat Nir after the evening prayer with my neighbor as he remarked to me that when there was a Yom Tov and a Shabbat next to one another there is always a degree of anxiety of what may have happened while we were disconnected from the world.

After every two days of Yom Tov there are sometimes tragedies that apear on your social media of an event like the Fogel family being killed in Itamar or the suicide bombing of senior citizens during a Passover Seder in Netanya.

Yet, this time a tragedy did not occur in Israel but thousands of miles away in the liberal state of California in the very liberal city of San Diego.

John Earnest walked into a Chabad house armed with an AR-15 and started shooting at the congregants killing Lori Gilbert a woman who took a bullet for the rabbi, injuring the rabbi along with a little girl and her uncle from Sderot.

Earnest was radicalized for many months indulging in his own interests of how to scapegoat minorities for his own perceived problems.

A promising nursing student threw away his life in a senseless act of violence against people who have done nothing to him.

John Earnest wrote in his manifesto,

Earnest is expressing the same views many other people who have read the Turner Diaries or Meinkomf.

Robert Bowers who had committed the Pittsburgh attack inspired John to attack Jews in San Diego believing he was on some holy mission.

We can not censor these ideas or prevent people from believing nonsense like David Icke’s idea that world leaders are actual reptilian aliens.

If we were to do like the Nazis or communists did and ban books and censor people while stripping them of their freedom of speech will only prove the white supremist theories true.

Instead we need to engage in debate with these people to prove how ridiculous their ideas are rather radicalizing them.

We also need to take the proper precautions to be able to defend ourselves when there is a threat that can arise.

An off duty border patrol along with a former US army soldier were armed and charged the suspected chasing him out of the synagogue wounding him in the leg.

There were a hundred people in the synagogue and with four magazines holding thirty 5.56 caliber bullets there would have been enough to bullets to kill everyone in the room.

Aharon Tzvi HaCohen Altman who I knew from Florida when he was a student at the University of Miami wrote on his Facebook post that by the grace of Hashem him and his family were unharmed.

As Ben Shapiro said on his daily podcast he said that the off duty Border Patrol was not a security guard but a congregant who discovered he was Jewish and was rediscovering his roots.

Rabbi Goldstein asked the Border Patrol officer to bring his service gun to prayer services in case of an incident happening.

If it was not for a good guy with a gun along with people who charged the terrorist there could have been a massacre greater than the Pittsburgh shooting six months ago.

President Trump was very supportive calling the Rabbi to express his condolences and even inviting them to the White House.

On the Today show Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein said in an interview that the woman who saved his life was Lori Kaye Gilbert who was a founding member of the community from the beginning of the establishment of the synagogue and even flew to his wedding.

Jews around the world should arm themselves and be prepared to defend themselves from either Islamic terrorists or a White Supremist who would like nothing more but to murder everyone of us.

Jews only survive when we are tough and willing to fight for our lives with deadly force instead of going like sheep to the slaughter.

We need to arm ourselves and constantly practice in how to use fire arms to repel attacks from such terrorists.

Congress woman Alexandra Cortez blamed Trump for the shooting and the second amendment saying that there shouldn’t be any one who has the ability to buy guns even though it will not stop people from illegally acquiring guns leaving the law abiding citizen defenseless.

Yet the shooter hated Trump and saw him as nothing more then a Zionist puppet who made anti-Jewish comments about Trump calling him a white traitor not exactly a Trump supporter in the least.

Cortez blames guns and yet California is one of the strictest states when it comes to acquiring firearms that it is laughable to say that lax gun laws are to blame.

If you live in America there is as great organization called Cherev Gidon located in Pennsylvania who trains Jews in Israeli tactics.

If your in Israel there is a company called Caliber 3 who offers many courses in firearms and Krav Maga.

Moving forward as Jews we should fight for our right to defend ourselves and also work towards making our communities safer so that evil people can not harm us.
