Dangerous liaisons

The collateral damage from Commander-In-Chief Joe Biden’s entrapment by First Lady Jill Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris is that our country and our allies face added geopolitical peril. When that feared three-in-the-morning emergency call comes into the White House, it’s fair to ask who will be in charge, and is that person informed, decisive and engaged. American allies, such as Israel, who face existential threats and are fighting multi-front hot wars, must expect to encounter enemies empowered by America’s cognitively challenged executive leadership and political chaos.

Following the disastrous presidential debate with former President Donald Trump, President Joe Biden finds himself pressed by his opportunist, modern-day Lady MacBeth wife Dr. Jill to struggle on for a second term and to be president into his 86th year. Dr. Jill Biden, fresh from her cover photoshoot for Vogue Magazine and her position as Professor of English at Northern Virginia Community College, continues her gaslighting pitch that Joe Biden is “sharp as a tack.” Apparently, convicted criminal Hunter Biden, who still faces tax evasion charges, and the rest of the family are also petitioning to continue the campaign and the hustle.

Regarding Jill Biden and Israel, in April 2024, the New York Times reported that Elizabeth Alexander, the first lady’s communications director said, “Just like the president, the first lady is heartbroken over the attacks on aid workers and the ongoing loss of innocent lives in Gaza. They both want Israel to do more to protect civilians.”

At the same time, the Democratic Party’s ill conceived “poison pill” selection of the ineffective Vice President Kamala Harris complicates any Biden alternative for the 2024 ticket and raises white-knight scenarios along with an open Chicago convention. Back in 2020, the selection of Kamala Harris as Vice President was essentially based on check-the-box DEI virtue signaling criteria and was made despite her weak primary contest results. Since then, as the President’s understudy, she has underperformed and earned an approval rating even lower than President Biden’s. To many in her own party, she is cringe-worthy and not an alternative.

Regarding Kamala Harris’s attitude toward Israel, a December 2023 USA Today headline pointed out, “Harris calls on Israel to respect international law, stop killing innocent Palestinians.” It added that Harris stressed, in a conversation with Israeli leaders, “The United States is unequivocal; international humanitarian law must be respected. Too many innocent Palestinians have been killed. Frankly, the scale of civilian suffering and the images and videos coming from Gaza are devastating.”

Unfortunately, the Democratic Party does not have an obvious successor. The long serving, but often discredited, civil servant Joe Biden can avoid the embarrassment of seeking a second term with diminished faculties if he patriotically steps aside as did Harry Truman in 1952 and Lyndon Johnson in March 1968. Even President Richard Nixon in August 1974, following the Watergate scandal, stepped aside.

While Biden should selflessly step down, his party and the media are promulgating apocalyptic Trump Derangement Syndrome scenarios. It muddles the thinking of the Democratic leadership and obscures objective assessment of Biden’s failed policies and faux-legal manipulations. The challenges to our misinformed lying eyes include Biden’s weaponized prosecutions, the 2020 election interference with the CIA’s disavowing of Hunter’s laptop, insulting claims of an intact border, run-away inflation, and run-away crime.

President Barack Obama’s alumni are already deeply ensconced in the Biden Administration and likely driving the policy if not tactics. They are surely working the Democratic machinery to deduce the least bad 2024 ticket as well as one that will promote their own agenda. Pro-Israel Democrats should be very wary of Obama’s anti-Israel history. Lowlights include hiring the anti-Zionist likes of Bitar-Amr-Malley-Blinken, the 2015 Iranian nuclear capitulation, the parting shot allowing UN Resolution 2334, and many more instances of his bias.

We all saw a debate badly botched by an elderly, diminished politician who can, at best, read from a teleprompter or peek at cue cards, and can only work a fraction of a day. The Democrats can spin the debate performance as the result of poor preparation or a head cold, but the painful truth is that our nation and our strategic partners are at risk due to Joe Biden’s unhelpful family and selfish insiders. Pro-Israel Democrats need to grasp the collateral dangers to Israel and Jews, and they need to vote accordingly.
