David Duke for President?

The latest politician to threaten to toss his hat in the ring to unseat the first African-American president is former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke, an outspoken anti-Semite. Duke, who calls Barack Obama" a "Zionist running dog" and Israel "the real rogue nuclear state" says he plans to make a 25-state tour to test support for his viability for the 2012 Republican nomination. His website says, "Duke for President? It’s Up to You."

He is a convicted felon who spent two years in the federal slammer for mail and tax fraud. He ran for governor of Louisiana twice; in 1991 he lost to Edwin Edwards, who himself recently finished a 10-year federal prison term.

He went to Tehran and told Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s conference of fellow Holocaust deniers that the gas chambers were not used to kill Jews.

Duke has pursued "a virulent anti-Jewish agenda that has always shaped his worldview," said author Leonard Zeskind.
