Dear Hanukkah Pajamas
You are worn when my younger daughter accompanies her sister to the bus stop.
You are worn to the farmers market when we go early Saturday morning.
You are worn to the supermarket when we go early Sunday morning.
You especially bring warmth to the family when both daughters coincidently choose you and wear matching pajamas.
Oh Hanukkah pajamas, you are the fan favorite, hands down.
You are the chosen ones amongst all the rest and are worn on pajama day at school.
Hanukkah represents a time of family and joy.
You help embody that all year round.
But dear Hanukkah pajamas, sadly you can no longer see the daylight.
You will only see the night.
You will still be adored, but only inside.
Because suddenly those menorahs, dreidels, and Jewish stars are no longer menorahs, dreidels, and Jewish stars; they have become a target for hate.
But dear Hanukkah pajamas, we will keep wearing you at night and dreaming of peace.
