Disloyalty?

Here we go again. Number 45 said, today, August 20th, 2019: “… Jews who vote for Democrats “shows either total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty.”

Some years ago, I, formerly a citizen of other nations, became a naturalized American Citizen. During my interview for American Citizenship I had to answer a number of questions. The most important question for me was: Would you be willing to bear arms to defend the United States of America, its constitution and its people? I answered with a very loud and resounding YES, a YES given without a moment’s hesitation.

I am a Jew. I have NO DIVIDED LOYALTIES.

For anyone, ANYONE to raise these divisive and ancient TROPES is abhorrent.

Number 45 uses two newly elected members of Congress, two members of the House of Representatives, Ms. Tlaib and Ms. Omar, to paint all members of the Democrat Party with the broad brush strokes of ANTI-SEMITISM, SOCIALISM and ANTI-PATRIOTISM.

I have news for you, my dear friends. Since November 29th, 1947, when the United States of America voted in favor of partition at the United Nations General Assembly, the United States of America and its people and its Congress have been Israel’s most loyal and supporting friend in this world.

No two ill-informed members of Congress, namely Ms. Tlaib and Ms. Omar, can ever change that.

And, no threats of disloyalty can ever change how anyone, let alone the Jewish citizens of the USA, will vote.

We were among the first to fund the American Revolution. Haym Salomon, (sometimes written as Solomon and Solomons in period documents) was a Polish-born Jewish immigrant to America who played an important role in financing the Revolution. He helped convert the French loans into ready cash by selling bills of exchange for Robert Morris, the Superintendent of Finance.

And then there is George Washington’s Letter to the Hebrew Congregation of Newport: “…

It is now no more that toleration is spoken of as if it were the indulgence of one class of people that another enjoyed the exercise of their inherent natural rights, for, happily, the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance, requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens in giving it on all occasions their effectual support.

It would be inconsistent with the frankness of my character not to avow that I am pleased with your favorable opinion of my administration and fervent wishes for my felicity.

May the children of the stock of Abraham who dwell in this land continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other inhabitants—while every one shall sit in safety under his own vine and fig tree and there shall be none to make him afraid….”

We Jews have, as citizens of the United States of America, NO DIVIDED LOYALTIES.
It would serve Number 45 well to UNITE all Americans rather than sow division, fear and hatred.
