Every Day A Threat

Today an Arab driving a van murdered one person and wounded 14 others by slamming into pedestrians and vehicles along the capital’s light rail.

I am angry.

We are all angry.

Arab fundamentalists are angry because they are manipulated by their evil leaders. They are fooled into becoming murderers by false promises of an ultimate reward they will never receive.

Israelis are angry because they are unable to feel safe and secure while partaking in even the most mundane activities.

I feel no different today than yesterday.

Every day presents a threat.

Every day I bemoan our lot.

We are despised for simply wanting to live freely in a place we’ve always called home, our only home.

When did that become a crime?

Every day we inhale the very hate filled air they exhale.
I live everyday with the knowledge that no one here is truly safe.

We are all a target.

Man, woman, child, Jew, Druze, Christian, Arab, it doesn’t matter.
They hate recklessly. They want chaos to ensue and they run amok using anything they can as a weapon.

As each family member leaves the house I take a long hard look at the one I love praying they will return safely.

We never know what they will try next.

We are forced to live in the moment, to appreciate every moment, for we Israelis never truly know if it will be our last.
