Falk Brings Shame To U.N.

A senior U.N. official dealing with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict posted a cartoon on his blog that " depicts a dog wearing a shirt labeled ‘USA’ and a yarmulke marked with a Star of David devouring a bloody human carcass. Lady Justice stands by blindfolded, holding the dog’s leash as it urinates on her foot (see below). And claims he had no idea it was anti-Semitic.

The Obama administration and leading American Jewish organizations have called for the firing of Richard Falk, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on Palestinian rights. In his defense, Falk said he didn’t see anything offensive until it was "pointed out to me." That isn’t even remotely credible on its own, but in light of his of his long and poisonous history you have to ask why he’s still on the job.

An American representative to the U.N., in calling for Falk’s dismissal, said, "His shameful and outrageous behavior is an embarrassment to the United Nations." I wonder.

The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations has called for his resignation in light of "the long existing problem of Mr. Falk’s blatant biases and repugnant behavior…including the spread of 9/11 conspiracy theories blaming the United States for self-inflicted terrorism and the comparison of Iraelis to Nazis."
