Food, Entertainment & Sex Appeal: The Wonders of Israel

Allow me to take a non-traditional view on some important things which one can promote to engender Pro-Israel opinions.  Anyone familiar with the State of Israel knows that the world media’s headlines are the furthest thing from reality – people in Israel don’t think day to day about Palestinians.

They do, however think about day-to-day life, which involves food, culture, sex, technology and so many other Western things that people can resonate with worldwide.  And while the Bible and history are quite clear, different things appeal to different people.

Indeed, Israel should use the many weapons she has at her disposal.  Some media and publicity angles which can create feelings of connection to Israel from people who don’t know Shimon Peres from Naftali Bennett, or the difference between Eastern Jerusalem and Ben-Yehuda Street:

  •  As the Los Angeles consulate is now highlighting, Israeli food is great and can attract people because of their food palates. Instead of the usual Independence Day Party in LA, Larry Ellison, the founder of Oracle, actor Sean Penn, movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, the owners of the Los Angeles Lakers, Nordstrom’s retail store, California Pizza Kitchen, Israeli entrepreneur Haim Saban and many others will gather at the legendary Nobu Malibu to recognize and appreciate Israel.  The event will feature Israeli chefs and as Israel’s consul-general in Los Angeles said:”In Hollywood there are two options: Either talking about the conflict, and you can talk to yourself about that, or working on issues they are interested in, like television and productions in Israel which we are trying to promote, and bringing food and wine made in Israel to Hollywood.” This PR firm owner gives it a big thumbs-up.  Great idea and it will attract more people to the wonders of Israel.
  • Highlight the many great Israeli entertainment success stories – one of the best ranking shows worldwide is “Homeland”, which is based upon the Israeli show “Hatufim” (“Prisoners of War” ). Many other shows like that, as well as Israeli music and artists have been exported and are doing well internationally – play to it.
  • While many people worldwide see only conflict, in reality as a poll by Traveler’s Digest last year said, Israeli men and women are indeed worthy of placement on the list of Top 10 Cities With The World’s Best-Looking Men list and also Cities With The World’s Most Beautiful Women: Top Ten.

As the publication said: “Israel has some very beautiful women; there’s just something about dark features and green eyes that is exotic and appealing. Tel Aviv is the focal point of Israel’s youth culture and nightlife scene, so it makes sense that the most beautiful girls in the country can be found lounging on the city’s Mediterranean beaches and in its happening night spots.” “Local cuties flaunt their fit bodies –made all the better by their year-round tans– at any of the numerous beaches and cafés found on the 10-mile seaside strip. In the evenings, you’ll find these guys dancing the night away at the trendiest venues in town.”

There are so many great things about Israel – and in order to educate more people about Israel many different wonders should be celebrated.
