Reversal Of Fortune was a film made based on a book by Alan Dershowitz. I never saw the movie, but what played out in Israel and Beirut this past month appears to be another version of the same title, only this time the story is quite different.

As discussed in a previous Blog, the Beirut explosion on August 4 or 14^th of Av came exactly one day before the 15^th of Av. For Israel, it was a relief knowing those explosives were now destroyed. But for the residents of Beirut, this led to demonstrations against and the ultimate downfall of the Government which most probably knew what was being stored in Beirut’s Port, but refused to do anything about it. A clear reversal of fortune.

First UAE – Israel Commercial Flight August 31, 2020  

There is another unique story that must be brought out into the open relating to the timing of this flight and ultimate signing of the peace agreement. And this all happened less than one month after the Beirut explosion.

Not only is it the first Israeli flight crossing into Saudi-Arabia territory, but August 31, is very significant with regard to Alan Dershowitz. According to the information I have, he was born on September 1, 1938, in other words, Alan was still 81 when this flight made its historic voyage.

The 9/11 terrorist attack, which took place on September 11, 2001, is still in its 18^th Anniversary year.

And as a reminder to all of us, about the horrors committed by the Nazis against our people which resulted in the deaths of 6 million Jews. It has now been confirmed that the number of COVID-19 cases in the US reached 6 million on August 31 according to Johns Hopkins University.

81 Years Ago vs 18 Years Ago – Kristallnacht 11/9/1938 vs 9/11/2001

Alan Dershowitz was born just a few months before Kristallnacht took place in Germany on November 9 – 10, 1938. The 9/11 terrorist attack took place on September 11, 2001 or 18 years ago. Therefore 81 and 18 are the reverse of each other and represented the beginning of a very difficult time for Jews in Germany and Americans in the US, especially those who were directly affected by the 9/11 attacks.

In addition, the months and dates of Kristallnacht and the 9/11 attack are also the reverse of each other.

In Germany – Kristallnacht

On 7 November 1938, Herschel Grynszpan, a Polish Jew, shot the German diplomat Ernst vom Rath in the German Embassy in Paris, in retaliation for the expulsion of his parents and siblings from Germany.^[112][k] When vom Rath died on 9 November, the government used his death as a pretext to instigate a pogrom against the Jews. The government claimed it was spontaneous, but in fact it had been ordered and planned by Adolf Hitler and Joseph Goebbels, although with no clear goals, according to David Cesarani. The result, he writes, was “murder, rape, looting, destruction of property, and terror on an unprecedented scale”.^[114]

Known as Kristallnacht (or “Night of Broken Glass”), the attacks on 9–10 November 1938 were partly carried out by the SS and SA,^[115] but ordinary Germans joined in; in some areas, the violence began before the SS or SA arrived.^[116] Over 7,500 Jewish shops (out of 9,000) were looted and attacked, and over 1,000 synagogues damaged or destroyed. Groups of Jews were forced by the crowd to watch their synagogues burn; in Bensheim they were made to dance around it, and in Laupheim to kneel before it.^[117] At least 90 Jews died.

Between 9 and 16 November, 30,000 Jews were sent to the Buchenwald, Dachau, and Sachsenhausen concentration camps.^[121] Many were released within weeks; by early 1939, 2,000 remained in the camps.^[122] German Jewry was held collectively responsible for restitution of the damage; they also had to pay an “atonement tax” of over a billion Reich marks. Insurance payments for damage to their property were confiscated by the government. A decree on 12 November 1938 barred Jews from most remaining occupations.^[123] Kristallnacht marked the end of any sort of public Jewish activity and culture, and Jews stepped up their efforts to leave the country.^[124]

Reversal Of Nazi Fortunes (The WWII Version Of Amalek)

By late 1944 and early 1945, the Nazi military force was collapsing, and Nazi troops were retreating on all fronts. Nazi Germany was facing defeat, but thousands of concentration camp prisoners were still being allowed to die.

And as if the Nazis were not satisfied with the millions of Jews they murdered, they made those Jews who still survived go on death marches from the concentration camps, which were gradually being closed and evacuated ahead of the Allied troops’ advance. The Nazis did not want the concentration camp prisoners to be liberated by the advancing Allied troops. The death marches took place from summer 1944 until the last days of the German Reich, in May 1945. Prisoners were forced to walk in inhuman conditions, often in freezing weather with insufficient clothes and food, covering the large distances to the destination camps. Many of them were murdered by SS supervisors on the way.

A clear example of how the Torah described Amalek would murder Jews.

Plans For The 19th Anniversary Commemoration

The heart of the mission of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum remains the annual commemoration ceremony. Family members will gather on the Memorial plaza while adhering to state and federal guidelines regarding social distancing and public gatherings.

As in years past, the focus of the commemoration will be the reading of the names. Out of an abundance of caution and in line with the guidance regarding social distancing, we will not ask family members to read the names of victims in person on a stage this year. Recorded readings of the names made by 9/11 family members for use in the Museum’s In Memoriam exhibition will instead be used for the 19th anniversary commemoration ceremony, ensuring that your loved one is recognized and remembered.

Reversal Of Fortunes For Al Qaeda’s Founder

Osama bin Laden, the founder and first leader of the Islamist militant group, Al-Qaeda, responsible for the 9/11 attacks, was killed in Pakistan on May 2, 2011, shortly after 1:00 am PKT^[1][2] (20:00 UTC, May 1) by United States Navy SEALs of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group (also known as DEVGRU or SEAL Team Six).^[3] The operation, code-named Operation Neptune Spear, was carried out in a CIA-led operation with Joint Special Operations Command, commonly known as JSOC, coordinating the Special Mission Units involved in the raid. In addition to SEAL Team Six, participating units under JSOC included the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne)—also known as “Night Stalkers”—and operators from the CIA’s Special Activities Division, which recruits heavily from former JSOC Special Mission Units.^[4][5] The operation ended a nearly 10-year search for bin Laden, following his role in the September 11 attacks on the United States.
