Four Levels of Souls were in Pinchas – פנחס
1 – Pinchas
2 – Yosef/Yisro + Nadav/Avihu
3 – Eliyahu HaTishbi from Gad
4 – Eliyahu HaTishbi from Binyamin
Incident of the Golden Calf – עגל הזהב
The impurity of the snake נחש stopped with giving of the Torah on Har Sinai on the 6th day of Sivan. However, once the Jews sinned with the Golden Calf עגל הזהב on the 17th of Tamuz, they caused the impurity of the snake to cling once again to the Nefesh of Adam. At this stage, the Tikun for this was for Nadav and Avihu had to be burned by a Holy fire of G-d.
The initial letters of the names of Nadav and Avihu is נ-א . These letters which are from the root of Kayin קין . They became an Ibur in Pinchas who was also from Kayin. Pinchas sinned with incident of daughter of Yiftach and the ibur of Nadav and Avihu were removed from Pinchas and went into Shmuel HaNavi.
Chiel Bais Haeli – חיאל
Chiel had a soul from the root of Kayin and he chose to rebuild Yericho. The three gilgulim of Nadav/Avihu and Yisro entered the soul of Cheil.
There was a well known curse of Yehoshua prohibiting the rebuilding of this city that was destroyed by G-d. The city Yericho is also related to the root of Kayin – a pasuk in Shoftim describes the Kayini living in the Palm city (Yericho).
וּבְנֵי קֵינִי חֹתֵן משֶׁה עָלוּ מֵעִיר הַתְּמָרִים אֶת בְּנֵי יְהוּדָה מִדְבַּר יְהוּדָה אֲשֶׁר בְּנֶגֶב עֲרָד וַיֵּלֶךְ וַיֵּשֶׁב אֶת הָעָֽם:
And the children of Kayni, the father-in-law of Moshe, went up from the city of date palms [Yericho], with the children of Yehuda into the wilderness of Yehuda, which is south of Arad; and he went and dwelt with the people (Shoftim 1:16).
Chiel was punished for rebuilding Yericho, with the death of all his children.
מלאכים א טז:לד
בְּיָמָיו בָּנָה חִיאֵל בֵּית הָאֱלִי אֶת יְרִיחֹה בַּאֲבִירָם בְּכֹרוֹ יִסְּדָהּ וּבִשְׂג֚וּב צְעִירוֹ הִצִּיב דְּלָתֶיהָ כִּדְבַר ה’ אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר בְּיַד יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן נֽוּן:
During his days, Chiel the Beiteli built Yericho; with Abiram his firstborn, he laid its foundation, and with Seguv his youngest son, he set up its gates, according to the word of Hashem that He had spoken through Yehoshua, the son of Nun (Melachim I 16:34).
From the name Chiel we can learn about his gilgulim. Take the name Chiel and change the ח to a ה, חיאל = היאל then rearrange the letters to get the name האל”י ; the house of Eli – Eliyahu.
There was also a spark of Yisro in Chiel. The sin that occurred with the incident of the daughter of Yiftach, caused him to re-build Yericho. This was measure for measure מידה כנגד מידה. Yiftach did not cancel his vow to sacrifice his daughter; therefore his gilgul enabled the re-building of Yericho thus violating the vow of Yehoshua. If Chiel resisted his temptation to re-build Yericho, then it would have been a Tikun for the sin of Yiftach.
Pinchas – פנחס
The gilgul of Pinchas entered the soul of Shmuel HaNavi. After Shmuel HaNavi died his gilgul’s name was changed and he was called Eliyahu HaTishbi. Nadav and Avihu returned to him as an Ibur. This rectification occurred after the incident on Mt. Carmel. A divine fire came down and burned the Ba’al prophets. A large group of Jewish people who witnessed this miraculous event said in unison “Hashem Elokim!”.
מלאכים א יח:לט
וַיַּרְא כָּל הָעָם וַֽיִּפְּלוּ עַל פְּנֵיהֶם וַיֹּאמְרוּ ה’ הוּא הָאֱלֹקים ה’ הוּא הָאֱלֹקים:
And all the people saw and fell on their faces, and they said, “Hashem is G-d, Hashem is G-d.” (Melachim I 18:39).
At that moment the unauthorized “Aish Zara” fire sin of Nadav and Avihu was forgiven. Also Nadav and Avihu were forgiven for the sin of looking at the divine Presence at its revelation on Har Sinai.
שמות כד: ט-י
וַיַּעַל משֶׁה וְאַֽהֲרֹן נָדָב וַֽאֲבִיהוּא וְשִׁבְעִים מִזִּקְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל: וַיִּרְאוּ אֵת אֱלֹקי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְתַחַת רַגְלָיו כְּמַֽעֲשֵׂה לִבְנַת הַסַּפִּיר וּכְעֶצֶם הַשָּׁמַיִם לָטֹֽהַר:
And Moshe and Aharon, Nadav and Avihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel ascended, and they perceived the G-d of Israel, and beneath His feet was like the forming of a sapphire brick and like the appearance of the heavens for clarity (Shemos 24:9-10).
This specific sin was rectified (Tikun) at Har HaCarmel because they all fell on their faces and no one looked at the Holy fire that came down from heaven. Nadav and Avihu gilgulim which came from Eliyahu HaTishbi then became the new gilgul of Eliyahu from Binyamin – Eliyahu HaTishbi.
דברי הימים א ח:א, כז
וּבִנְיָמִן הוֹלִיד אֶת בֶּלַע בְּכֹרוֹ אַשְׁבֵּל הַשֵּׁנִי וְאַחְרַח הַשְּׁלִישִֽׁי… וְיַֽעֲרֶשְׁיָה וְאֵֽלִיָּה וְזִכְרִי בְּנֵי יְרֹחָֽם:
And Benyamin begot Bela his firstborn, Ashbel the second, and Achrah the third… And Yaareshiah, and Eliyah, and Zichri the sons of Yeroham. (Diverei HaYamim I 8:1, 27).
This rectified gilglul, Eliyahu of Binyamin (Eliyahu HaTishbi), is specifically the one who comes to visit every Bris Milah, Pesach Seder, and occasionally performs special miracles for us. Elihayu told the Rabbis חכמים, that he is from the children of Rachel (Binyamin) (Eliyahu Rabbah 18).
Eliyahu – אליהו
Eliyahu the Prophet gave the drop of the soul of Yosef from his gilgul to Yona ben Amitai of Tzaphata. This occurred when the son of the widow died and he was physically revived by Elihayu.
מלאכים א יז: יז, כא-כב
וַיְהִ֗י אַחַר֙ הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה חָלָ֕ה בֶּן הָאִשָּׁ֖ה בַּעֲלַ֣ת הַבָּ֑יִת וַיְהִ֚י חָלְיוֹ֙ חָזָ֣ק מְאֹ֔ד עַ֛ד אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא נֽוֹתְרָה בּ֖וֹ נְשָׁמָֽה:… וַיִּתְמֹדֵ֚ד עַל הַיֶּ֙לֶד֙ שָׁל֣שׁ פְּעָמִ֔ים וַיִּקְרָ֥א אֶל ה’ וַיֹּאמַ֑ר ה’ אֱלֹקי תָּ֥שָׁב נָ֛א נֶֽפֶשׁ הַיֶּ֥לֶד הַזֶּ֖ה עַל קִרְבּֽוֹ: וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע ה’ בְּק֣וֹל אֵלִיָּ֑הוּ וַתָּ֧שָׁב נֶֽפֶשׁ הַיֶּ֛לֶד עַל קִרְבּ֖וֹ וַיֶּֽחִי:… וַתֹּ֚אמֶר הָֽאִשָּׁה֙ אֶל אֵ֣לִיָּ֔הוּ עַתָּה֙ זֶ֣ה יָדַ֔עְתִּי כִּ֛י אִ֥ישׁ אֱלֹקים אָ֑תָּה וּדְבַר ה’ בְּפִ֖יךָ אֱמֶֽת:
And it was after these happenings, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became ill; and his illness was very serious until no soul was left within him… And he prostrated himself on the boy three times, and he called to Hashem and said, “O Hashem, my G-d, restore please the soul of this child within him.” And Hashem listened to the voice of Eliyahu and the child’s soul returned within him, and he lived… And the woman said to Eliyahu, “Now I know that you are a Man of G-d and the word of Hashem that is in your mouth, is true.” (Melachim I 17:17, 21,22).
After the boy was revived, the widow praised Eliyahu by stating that he speaks the “true” word of G-d. Therefore, her son was called the “son of truth”. Yona was revived back to life and received a part gilgul from Eliyahu, his name was Yona ben Amitai יוֹנָ֥ה בֶן אֲמִתַּ֖י; the word Amitai means truth אמת. Because Yona had a spark of Yosef, he also had the potential to be Mashiach ben Yosef.
Just before Eliyahu died, he gave over his two gilgulim of Nadav and Avihu to his student Elisha. This is learned from the words, “Twice of your spirit on me”.
מלאכים א ב:ט
וַיְהִי כְעָבְרָם וְאֵלִיָּהוּ אָמַר אֶל אֱלִישָׁע שְׁאַל מָה אֶֽעֱשֶׂה לָּךְ בְּטֶרֶם אֶלָּקַח מֵעִמָּךְ וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלִישָׁע וִֽיהִי נָא פִּֽי שְׁנַיִם בְּרוּחֲךָ אֵלָֽי:
And it was when they crossed, that Eliyahu said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you, while I am not yet taken away from you.” And Elisha said, “Please let there be twice of your spirit on me.”(Melachim I 2:9)
Elisha asked for two times as much “Ruach”. He received the double gilgul of Nadav and Avihua, as seen in the word “please נא” , נ”א = נדב אביהוא. In addition, Nadav and Avihu were a double spirit/Ruach mixed in with the soul/Ruach of Eliyahu.
Elisha – אלישע
Elisha came from the root of Chanoch called Matatron. He needed to receive the Nefesh of Nadav and Avihu. Elisha’s name is a hint to his origin from Kayin. The pasuk in Bereishis states that G-d did not listen ” “לא שעה to the sacrifice of Kayin.
וְאֶל קַיִן וְאֶל מִנְחָתוֹ לֹא שָׁעָה וַיִּחַר לְקַיִן מְאֹד וַיִּפְּלוּ פָּנָֽיו:
But to Kayin and to his offering [He] did not listen, and it angered Kayin exceedingly, and his countenance fell (Bereishis 4:5).
Due to his sin G-d did not listen to Kayin. Later on, Elisha rectified Kayin through his Tikun and G-d started to listen to him. He was called the Prophet Elisha – אלי שעה, “to me, He listens”.
Korach had gilgul of Kayin and was shaved bald by Moshe. Elisha was also, bald of hair. Moshe used the forty-two letter Holy Name of G-d to kill the Egyptian who had in him a Nefesh of Kayin. So too, Elisha used the forty-two letter Holy Name of G-d to killed the 42 evil children, who called him Korach, when he left Yericho.
מלאכים ב ב: כב-כד
וַיֵּרָפוּ הַמַּיִם עַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה כִּדְבַר אֱלִישָׁ֖ע אֲשֶׁר דִּבֵּֽר: וַיַּעַל מִשָּׁם בֵּֽית אֵל וְהוּא עֹלֶה בַדֶּרֶךְ ונְעָרִים קְטַנִּים יָצְאוּ מִן הָעִיר וַיִּתְקַלְּסוּ בוֹ וַיֹּאמְרוּ לוֹ עֲלֵה קֵרֵחַ עֲלֵה קֵרֵֽחַ: וַיִּפֶן אַֽחֲרָיו וַיִּרְאֵם וַֽיְקַלְלֵם בְּשֵׁם ה’ וַתֵּצֶאנָה שְׁתַּיִם דֻּבִּים מִן הַיַּעַר וַתְּבַקַּעְנָה מֵהֶם אַרְבָּעִים וּשְׁנֵי יְלָדִֽים:
And the water became cured to this day, according to the word of Elisha that he spoke. And he went up from there to Beit El, and he was going up on the road and some little boys came out of the city and jeered him, and said to him, “Go away, baldy; go away, baldy!” And he turned around and saw them, and he cursed them in the name of G-d. And two female bears came out of the forest and tore apart forty-two boys of them (Melachim II 2:22-24).
According to one opinion, Elisha revived the same boy as Eliyahu did; therefore, he was called, Chabakuk חבקוק. Elisha revived the ben HaShunamit and Eliyahu revived the son of the widow. The child was called Chabakuk, because he received two חיבוקים , CPR “kisses”; first from Eliyahu then Elisha .
Chizkiyahu King of Yehudah – חזקיהו
Kayin later on reincarnated into Chizkiyahu King of Yehudah. Now that Kayin was rectified he was called Chizki-Yahu חזק-יהו because Kayin was strengthened .נתחזק The letters יהו from Eliyahu HaNavi ((אלי-יהו, were now rectified.
G-d wanted to make Chizkiahu the Mashiach. He was worthy since he completed the Tikun of Kayin and he was the first born a, בכור which is fitting for Kingship. This plan of G-d was cancelled, since he failed to praise G-d and say “shira” after the amazing miracle when G-d destroyed his enemy Sancheriv.
תלמוד בבלי סנהדרין צד עמוד א
…ביקש הקב”ה לעשות חזקיהו משיח… ומה דוד מלך ישראל שאמר כמה שירות ותשבחות לפניך לא עשיתו משיח, חזקיה שעשית לו כל הנסים הללו ולא אמר שירה לפניך תעשהו משיח? לכך נסתתם.
G-d desired to make Chizkiyahu Mashiach…The attribute of justice said before the Holy One, Blessed be He: Master of the Universe, and if with regard to Dovid, king of Israel, who recited several songs and praises before You, You did not designate him as the Mashiach, then with regard to Chizkiyahu, for whom You performed all these miracles, delivering him from Sancheriv and healing his illness, and he did not recite praise before You, will You designate him as the Mashiach? It is for that reason that the letter “mem” was closed, because there was an opportunity for redemption that was thwarted. (Talmud Bavli Sanhedrin 94a)
Matisyahu –הכהן מתתיהו (Chanukah Story)
Kayin then reincarnated into Matisyahu son of Chashmonai the Kohen Gadol who became a King.
He then reincarnated into the Tanna (Mishnah era), Akavia ben Mahalel. Kayin was in the heel עקב of Esav so he was called Akavia עקב-יא. His name was changed, because of a Tikun, from Mehalel ben Keinan to Akavia ben Mahalel.
This soul was reincarnated into Rav Yochanan ben Zakkai (the Tanna who saved Yavneh) and then into Rabbi Akiva.
Rabbi Akiva was called Akiva ben Yosef, “the heel” of Esav. The Zohar says Yissachar reincarnated into Rav Akiva. Yissachar was also from Kayin.
The gilgul of Kayin became and Ibur into the two Geonim: Rav Achai אחאי and Rav Acha אחא. Their Nefesh came from the wicked Achav (אחאב) the King. They rectified the letters אחא via Ibur, which came from King Achav. However, the “beis” in the name King Achav was rectified through Rav Avraham Galid via the ב in name אברהם).
Shmuel HaNavi – שמואל הנביא
When the pasuk by the story of Bilaam, used the word Keini it means Kayin.
וַיַּרְא אֶת הַקֵּינִי וַיִּשָּׂא מְשָׁלוֹ וַיֹּאמַר אֵיתָן מֽוֹשָׁבֶךָ וְשִׂים בַּסֶּלַע קִנֶּֽךָ:
When he [Bilaam] saw the Keini, he took up his parable and said, “How firm is your dwelling place, and your nest is set in a cliff (Bamidbar 24:21).
Shmuel was from Kayin. The words “…things from G-d”, spells the name – from Shmuel מ-שמו אל.
וַיִּשָּׂא מְשָׁלוֹ וַיֹּאמַר אוֹי מִי יִֽחְיֶה מִשֻּׂמוֹ אֵֽל:
He took up his parable and said, Alas! Who can survive these things from G-d?(Bamidbar 24:23)
What’s the connection? First Bilaam saw Amalek, who is from the evil side of Kayin.
וַיַּרְא אֶת עֲמָלֵק וַיִּשָּׂא מְשָׁלוֹ וַיֹּאמַר רֵאשִׁית גּוֹיִם עֲמָלֵק וְאַֽחֲרִיתוֹ עֲדֵי אֹבֵֽד:
When he saw Amalek, he took up his parable and said, “Amalek was the first of the nations, and his fate shall be everlasting destruction.” (Bamidbar 24:20)
Bilaam prophesised that Amalek will suffer directly under the hands of Shmuel. When king Shaul failed to kill Agag, the king of Amalek, Shmuel had to kill Agag himself with a sword.
שמואל א ט”ו: לג
וַיֹּאמֶר שְׁמוּאֵל כַּאֲשֶׁר שִׁכְּלָה נָשִׁים חַרְבֶּךָ כֵּן תִּשְׁכַּל מִנָּשִׁים אִמֶּךָ וַיְשַׁסֵּף שְׁמוּאֵל אֶת אֲגָג לִפְנֵי ה’ בַּגִּלְגָּֽל:
And Shmuel said, “As your sword bereaved women, so will your mother be bereaved among women.” And Shmuel hewed Agag in pieces before Hashem in Gilgal (Shmuel I 14:33).
Shmuel HaNavi is connected to the souls of Nadav and Avihu. In Parshas Vayezei we learn the at the angel of Esav fought with Yakov and injured his thigh.
בראשית לב:כו , פרשת ויצא
וַיַּרְא כִּי לֹא יָכֹל לוֹ וַיִּגַּע בְּכַף יְרֵכוֹ וַתֵּקַע כַּף יֶרֶךְ יַֽעֲקֹב בְּהֵאָֽבְקוֹ עִמּֽוֹ:
When he saw that he could not prevail against him, he touched the socket of his hip, and the socket of Yakov’s hip became dislocated as he wrestled with him (Bereishis 32:26).
When the pasuk states the Angel of Esav touched Yakov’s hip, this refers to Nadav and Avihu. Later on, Shmuel grabbed from Sama’el ((סט”א the hip that had been taken from Yaakov. This refers to Nadav and Avihu who correspond to the two hips/thighs of the Sefiros Nezach and Hod. This is the source of all the prophets. The hip/thigh ירך of Yaakov is a reference to Shmuel HaNavi.
Moshe and Aharon were among the Cohanim and they are both compared to Shmuel.
משֶׁה וְאַֽהֲרֹן בְּכֹֽהֲנָיו וּשְׁמוּאֵל בְּקֹֽרְאֵי שְׁמוֹ קֹרִאים אֶל ה’ וְהוּא יַֽעֲנֵֽם:
Moshe and Aharon among His Cohanim, and Shmuel among those who call in His name, would call out to Hashem, and He would answer them (Tehillim 99:6).
Shmuel was equal to Moshe and Aharon combined, since the gilgulim of Nadav and Avihu were in him. Nadav and Avihu together were equivalent to Moshe and Aharon. The letters “”אל in the name שמואל come from Eliyahu .אל-יהו This hints that Nadav and Avihu were both in Shmuel and Eliyahu HaNavi. In the end, Aharon was responsible for causing the death of Nadav and Avihu since he actually made the golden calf. Eliyahu HaNavi was able to peform the final Tikun for the gilgulim of Nadav and Avihu.
Aharon – אהרן הכהן
Aharon soul came from the root of Hevel. There were two soul roots of Hevel – Haran, brother of Avraham and Nachor. Nachor was reincarnated into Chur, son of Miriam, Haran reincarnated into Aharon. Chur חור took three letters from Nachor נחור . The nun נ”” of Nachor went to king Achav.
It is a common mistake to spell the name Aharon in Hebrew with a letter vav “”ו. In order for a person to receive the full spiritual power of this name, one should be careful to not spell the name Aharon defectively with a no “vav”. Aharon received the three letters from Haran הרן and an aleph was added to make his name,א-הרן.
Lot was the son of Haran who was from Hevel. The first letters of the name “Lot son of Haran” לוט בן הרן is the name הבל spelled backwards. Rechavam HaMelech was a gilgul of Lot son of Haran. King Rechavam was the son of Shlomo HaMelech and Naamah from the land Ammon. Ammon was the descendent of Lot.
Adam Harishon was guilty of the sin of worshipping idols. Haran was created in order to rectify the sin of Adam. However, Haran also worshipped idols and was burned in Ur Kasdim. Therefore, Haran then reincarnated into Aharon. However Aharon sinned with helping create the Golden Calf. Aharon was supposed allow himself to be killed, just as Chur did; he made a mistake and allowed the Egel HaZahav to be created.
The path of the gilgul from Hevel was as follows:
הבל → לוט בן הרן (first letters spell הבל) → חור → אהרן → מלך אחאב
This sin of Idolatry finally had the Tikun with the gilgul of Uriah the Kohen.
Uriah – אוריה הכהן
Aharon’s soul returned to reincarnate in Uriah HaKohen from Kiryat Yearim, who was killed by Yehoyakim HaMelech.
אוריה = אהרן
Uriah rectified this sin of Aharon the Cohen, when he was killed. Since Aharon enabled the sin with the Egel HaZahav, he was considred indirectly was responsible for the death’s of Nadav and Avihu’s.
ירמיהו כו: כ-כא, כג
וְגַם אִישׁ הָיָה מִתְנַבֵּא בְּשֵׁם ה’ אֽוּרִיּהוּ בֶּן שְׁמַעְיָהוּ מִקִּרְיַת הַיְּעָרִים וַיִּנָּבֵא עַל הָעִיר הַזֹּאת וְעַל הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת כְּכֹל דִּבְרֵי יִרְמְיָֽהוּ: וַיִּשְׁמַע הַמֶּלֶך יְהֽוֹיָקִים וְכָ ־גִּבּוֹרָיו וְכָל הַשָּׂרִים אֶת דְּבָרָיו וַיְבַקֵּשׁ הַמֶּלֶךְ הֲמִיתוֹ וַיִּשְׁמַע אֽוּרִיָּהוּ וַיִּרָא וַיִּבְרַח וַיָּבֹא מִצְרָֽיִם:… וַיּוֹצִיאוּ אֶת־אֽוּרִיָּהוּ מִמִּצְרַיִם וַיְבִאֻהוּ אֶל הַמֶּלֶךְ יְהֽוֹיָקִים וַיַּכֵּהוּ בֶּחָרֶב וַיַּשְׁלֵךְ אֶת נִבְלָתוֹ אֶל קִבְרֵי בְּנֵי הָעָֽם:
Also a man was prophesying in the name of Hashem, Uriah the son of Shemayahu of Kiryas-Yearim, and he prophesied concerning this city and concerning this land, like all the words of Yermiyahu. And King Yehoyakim and all his mighty warriors and all the princes heard his words, and the king sought to put him to death, and Uriah heard and he was afraid, and he fled and came to Egypt…And they took Uriah out of Egypt and brought him to King Yehoyakim, and he struck him with the sword and cast his corpse into the graves of the common people.(Yermiyahu 26:20-21, 23)
Aharon HaCohen, was reincarnated a second time into Zecharia Hanavi the Cohen. He associated with Chaggai and Malchi. This time, Nadav and Avihu reincarnated with Aharon together into Zecharia HaNavi. Zecharia is the prophet who prophesized words of comfort to the Jewish Nation.
Yabetz the Judge – יבץ השופט
Aharon reincarnated into Yabetz the Judge and sinned because he made vows. After that, he was reincarnated into Tola the son of Puah the Judge. He was called Tola the worm, since a worm תולע has only strength in the mouth. This was to help him rectify the vows of the mouth. He sinned by only dwelling in single city and did not travel the entire country of Israel in order to improve and Judge the Jewish Nation. His soul was then reincarnated into Shmuel HaNavi who rectified this sin by circulating to all of Eretz Yisrael as a Judge.
Nadav and Avihu are also referred to as the “thighs/hips of truth ירכי קשוט “. They entered Shmuel HaNavi as an Ibur, because he is the first of the Naviim (prophets), who have the job to speak the truth from G-d.
When Aviah the son of Shmuel HaNavi was born, he gave him the gigul Avihu. This was from the pair of Nadav and Avihu, to reincarnate into Aviah. This is seen from the similar names Aviah and Avihu אביה = אביהו . However, the soul of Nadav remained in Shmuel HaNavi.
Aviah son of Yeravam- אביה
Shmuel HaNavi died, and his soul was reincarnated into Aviah the son of Yerovam. He was the son of Nevat of the tribe of Ephraim. G-d punished King Shlomo’s family by dividing the kingdom and making Yerovam the king of the ten Northern tribes. He was an evil king and even created two golden calves for worship. Because if Yervam’s sins, his son Aviah died young. However, Aviah had “good” in him, which was the potential to become Moshiach ben Yosef. This potential was not fulfilled.
Hillel + Shammai – הלל שמאי
Both Hillel and Shamai’s souls come from Hevel. Hillel represented the Chesed (kindness) from Hevel. Whereas, Shamai represented the Gevurah (strict judgment) of Hevel.
Hashem said to Hevel (Talmud Shabbos 89a) היה לך לעזריני “you need to help me“. The first letters spell out the name Hillel הלל.
The name Shammai received the first two letters of his name, shin and mem from Moshe Rabeinu and Shem, respectfully.
Whereas, the alef and yud is from the pasuk, “Where is Hevel your brother?”
וַיֹּאמֶר ה’ אֶל קַיִן אֵי הֶבֶל אָחִיךָ וַיֹּאמֶר לֹא יָדַעְתִּי הֲשֹׁמֵר אָחִי אָנֹֽכִי:
And the Hashem said to Kayin, “Where is Hevel your brother?” And he said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?” (Bereishis 4:9)
Shammai sinned through his strictness in not accepting many converts. Therefore, he reincarnated into Shimeon ben Azzai who briefly married Rav Akiva’s daughter, yet never had children and then got divorced. Instead of having children, he rather created many souls of converts through his Torah learning.
Ben Azzai – בן עזי
Rav Akiva and Ben Azzai created souls of converts when they separated from their wives. Ben Azzai married the daughter of Rabbit Akiva and then divorced her prior to consummating the marriage.
Abaye and Rava – אביי רבא
Abaye (son of Kaylil) was an Amora, a Cohen from the family of Eli. He died young at age 60, since the family of Eli was cursed with this punishment. Abaye born after his father and mother dies. His father reincarnated into him. Call Abaye – אביי, to tell us his father אבאwas part of him.
He was an orphan whose real name was Nachmani. He was adopted by his uncle Rabbah. He had the Nefesh, Ruach and Neshama of Kayin, unlike the others preceding him. Since he had all the defective parts of Kayin’s soul, the Halacha is never ruled like him !
However, Rava’s soul was reincarnated from Hevel; therefore, the Halacha is ruled like Rava.
Abaye אביי was an orphan, his name is spelled out in the first letters of a pasuk in Hoshea “Whom the orphan is granted mercy”.
אַשּׁוּר לֹא יֽוֹשִׁיעֵנוּ עַל סוּס לֹא נִרְכָּב וְלֹֽא נֹאמַר עוֹד אֱלֵֹקינוּ לְמַֽעֲשֵׂה יָדֵינוּ אֲשֶׁר בךָ ירֻחַם יתֽוֹם [אביי]:
Assyria shall not save us; we will not ride on horses, nor will we say any longer, our gods, to the work of our hands, for in You, by Whom the orphan is granted mercy.” (Hoshea 14:4)
Abaye also drew souls of converts through his Torah learning, however, he did not separate from his wife.
Abaye’s soul came from Kayin and the Sefira of Gevurah. He made a Tikun to change his soul to חסד joy.
Yosef HaZadik – יוסף הצדיק
Rebi Yishmael son of Elisha the Cohen Gadol, received his soul from the spark of Yosef HaZadik
The ten martyrs הרוגי מלכות were from the ten drops that left the body of Yosef when he sinned by Potifar’s wife. Therefore, the punishment of Rav Yishmael was the most severe; since he was a reincarnation of Yosef.
Yosef became a captive among gentiles and was taken from Israel to Egypt. So too Rav Yishmael was once taken as a captive (Talmud Gittin 58a) .
Rav Yishmael was handsome, just like Yosef. Similarly, just as Yosef the young man had his multi-colored coat removed from him; so too, the Romans removed the skin from the face of Rav Yishmael.
The ten Rabbinical Martyrs were gilgulim of the Shevatim involved in the sale of Yosef (Sefer Hatziuni).
- Rav Elazar ben Shamua = Shimon, same letter, killed at the age of 105.
- Rabbi Yishmael the Cohen Gadol = Levi ,
- Rav Shimon ben Gamliel the prince of Sanhedrin = Yehuda,
- Rav Chutzipis the interpreter = Yissachar. He is described as a “crouching donkey” “חמר גרם” is his blessing from Yakov. This phrase has the same letters contained in his title “חוצפית המתורגמן“. He was killed at the age of 130.
יִשָּׂשכָ֖ר חֲמֹ֣ר גָּ֑רֶם רֹבֵ֖ץ בֵּ֥ין הַמִּשְׁפְּתָֽיִם:
Yissachar is a crouching donkey, lying between the boundaries (Bereishis 49:14).
- Rav akiva ben Yosef = Yosef
- Rav channaya ben Terdion = Dan
- Rav Yehuda be teima = Zevulun
- Rav Yesheivav = Gad
- Rav yehdua ben bava = Naftali
- Rav chanina ben chaninai = Asher
- Terach, Avraham’s father reincarnated into Iyov. His suffering was the Tikun.
- Lot had two daughters. One was reincarnated into Rus from Moav and the other into Na’amah from Amon.
- Yitzchak had the Neshama of Chava in him. When he was at the “binding of Yitzchak” עקידת יצחק, her soul left him, and went into the ram איל. In the end, this ram was sacrificed instead of Yitzchak.
- Dovid was a gilgul of Adam HaRishon; Adam was supposed to live for 1,000 years, but he gave 70 years of his, year to Dovid HaMelech. For this reason, Adam died at the age 930 years old (1,000-70 = 930).
- Bas Sheva was a gilgul of Chava; so Dovid was naturally pulled towards her Neshama. Whereas, her first husband, Uria HaChiti was a gilgul of the snake נחש from Gan Eden. Dovid was punished, only because he had Uriah killed too soon; prior to G-d’s judgment of him.
- Yakov inserted a spirit רוח into Leah which was reincarnated into Avigayil, wife if Naval. (My wife’s name is Leah and my oldest daughter is Avigayil..) There is one place in Navi where her name is spelled missing a letter “yud” as אבי-גל. This is a hint to Yakov who made a monument גל with Lavan. Lavan was reincarnated into Naval, and Yakov was reincarnated into Avigayil. Two sparksטפות קדושות of Adam HaRishon went to the snake in Gan Eden. Lavan was from this snake. Yakov needed to take back these two sparks from Lavan which were in Leah and Rachel. Lavan reincarnated into Naval in order to marry Avigayil and remove the spark of Leah from her. Dovid was a reincarnation of Adam Harishon who needed to prevent this. Naval was killed and Dovid ended up marrying Avigyil.Yakov was punished for marrying two sisters. However, the spirit he left with Leah was reincarnated into the prophetess Avigayil. In this manner, Leah had a Tikun though Avigayil the wife of Dovid and Rachel had a Tikun through Avigayil the sister of Dovid.

- Babba ben Buta was a student of Shammai and he was reincarnated in Rav Sheishes (Talmud Bava Basra 4a). Since evil “King” Herod blinded ben Buta; therefore Rav Sheishes had to be blind. Their names are similar using the “at-bash” method (substitute alef for taf, beis for a shin, etc.)
בבא = ששת in את-בש.
- Devorah the prophetess, acted proudly גאוה over General Barak and Chulda the Neviah disgraced King Tzidkiyahu. Rav Nachman bar Yitzchak said, “pride does not suit women”. Therefore, since Devorah acted arrogantly and was too talkative she was called a bee. Such people are reincarnated into a buzzing bee. Chulda was named a rat, because of her behavior (Shaar Gilgulim chapter 22).
According to the Maharal (Derech Chayim 5:9), the actual land of Eretz Yisrael raised the Avos to make them the holy people that they became. If they were not in Israel they would never have reached their height of greatness. So too Eretz Yisrael can raise any Jew to the highest spiritual level. This is not possible in Chutz LaAretz.
Our goal in this world is take every opportunity to fix and not repeat the mistakes of the past, including the sin of the Meraglim of refusing to make Aliyah. In this way we can repair our souls. The best place to do this is living in Eretz Yisrael.
מוסף שלול רגלים
וכונן מקדשך על מכונו, והראנו בבנינו, ושמחנו בתקונו. והשב כהנים לעבדתם, ולוים לשירם ולזמרם. והשב ישראל לנויהם.
And establish Your Temple on its prepared site [the Temple Mount], show us its rebuilding, and gladden us in its restoration. Restore the Kohanim to their service and the Leviim to their song and music; and restore Israel to their dwellings [in Eretz Yisrael].
