Go land or Golan?

Today we keep the Heights
without too many fights.

We say thank you to a real friend;
it can be difficult to comprehend.

From Poland to Golan;
the Arabs gave us no land.

They bought and farmed;
no-one thought they harmed.

From Rishon LeZion to Shavei Tzion;
they were returnees
from long journeys.

They looked and prayed;
and got hooked and stayed.

Today we say Golan
and not go land.
