Going to the Dogs

Dear fellow citizens:

Let’s face the truth. Our country is going to the dogs ! We have abandoned democracy and replaced it with racist theocracy. We have politicians who verbalize their desire to rid us of 20% of our population… Druze, Arabs, Circassians and Christians.

We have politicians who support a rule of government by another 20% or less… the anti-liberal modern country we once treasured. A group of religious zealots, the haredim, the Kahanists, the Otzmas, the Litzmans, the Smotriches, the Deris (all supporters of the Netanyahu ilk eager for their votes).

The latter group is still tied to a 16th century medieval Judaism when all life was determined by the decisions of the zealots. Today we have television, i-pods, computers, hi-tech, cellphones and condoms, We have no longer any need to adhere to the demands of a minority despised by much of our majority.

Please don’t get me wrong, dear readers. I am not opposed to a free and normal religious life. I pray with tefillin every morning. I go to my synagogue every Shabbat and yomtov. I eat only kosher food.

But I socialize with any and all of my friends whose life-style differs from mine. I cannot allow religious bandits to dictate how we should live as Jews. More importantly. We need to learn how to live as decent human beings.

In discussing today with a dear friend of sixty-two years about our upcoming September 17 elections, he said to me “why even bother to vote ?
It’s the same zevel, no matter who gets elected”.

Yes. Netanyahu did many wonderful things for our country, for our economy, for our international relations, but he failed to do much for the individual citizens of Israel.

His ego, fueled by the venom of Sara and Yair, has conquered his sense of justice, fairness and decency. He yielded to temptations and turned into a liar, a cheat, a bribe-taker, and a fraud… one who will soon be indicted and may possibly follow other past prime ministers and a president who spent some years in prison.

Our political system is the largest joke in all the other nations of the world. We have about 36 different groups creating political parties in attempts to be elected to the Knesset, to support a nation-state mistaken law which turns first class citizens into second class residents, and issues laws which penalize the civic and religious rights of 82% of our Jewish population.

We are, in that regard, a laughing-stock among the nations, while they admire our achievements in military power and technology. But even in military matters, many of us see Netanyahu’s failure to put an end once and for all to the terrorism in Gaza and the rule of a vicious Hamas.

The Trump not-yet-published “peace” proposal will be rejected in parts by both parties to the battle. The Arabs will never accept a state without East Jerusalem as its capitol and a return of survivors of the 1948 refugees to their homes and property which no longer exist.

And Israel will never agree to either of those two demands. So…. Quo vadis? Whither do we go ?

It is about time that we put to a political death the too-many small parties in our Knesset.

It is time to make Israel a nation of two, perhaps three, political parties: Right-Wing, Left-Wing and Religious. No more.

We have preserved Hebrew as our official language. We have reduced Arabic, once part of the tri-partite languages of Palestine & Israel since 1918, and have given it only a special status.

Dear readers… it is time for us to learn how to speak a new language…

HAV HAV HAV, BOW WOW WOW, WOOF WOOF WOOF… whichever you prefer.

Our country is going to the DOGS !!!
