On a recent podcast with Edge & Christian (two former WWE Stars), Goldberg was quoted as saying “I’m absolutely miserable”. While it is public knowledge that Goldberg’s first run with the WWE back in 2003 was not the most pleasant experience for the Jewish Superhero and current WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion, his current run has been very positive. His comments about being miserable was in regards to his current training regimen to look like the man he was 13 years ago. From the mouth of Goldberg – “I’m bloated 24 hours a day. I’m stressed 24 hours a day. I don’t sleep, but it’s a small price to pay. People are expecting me to be able to do exactly what I did back then. I am nothing but a machine now. I get up in the morning. I eat. I train. I eat. It’s the toughest thing I ever embarked upon, guys. I’m 13 years removed from the business. I can’t name a power wrestler who has come back 13 freaking years afterwards. And then, within 20 pounds of what he was back then.” While there is no denying this is an extremely grueling schedule, I look at it as total dedication.
Needless to say, his comments about being miserable have taken the internet by storm with articles popping up everywhere. This is far from the truth as Goldberg responded strongly back this past Thursday to all the headline news about his being miserable since returning to the WWE. In his own words, “Since this is chapping my ass let’s get the record straight…..this @wwe run, experience is frikin’ awesome…. honored, humbled, truly appreciative and then some. I’M MISERABLE PHYSICALLY BECAUSE IT TAKES A MONUMENTAL EFFORT, BOTH TRAINING AND EATING, TO TRY AND BE CLOSE TO WHAT PEOPLE REMEMBER…. I STRIVE TO BE THE BEST….. RESULTS ARE GREAT BUT IT DOESN’T MEAN THERE ARE NO BUMPS ALONG THE WAY.” This is all in preparation for his upcoming epic encounter with the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar, at WrestleMania this coming Sunday.
Paul Heyman, Goldberg’s “Tribal Rival”, has stated that the Beast will kill Goldberg at WrestleMania this Sunday. During RAW this past Monday evening, in preparation for Goldberg’s death at the hands of the Beast, Paul Heyman started reading Goldberg his Last Rites in Latin and then realized “That doesn’t work – he is one of my – he’s a …” He then recited the first two lines of the Mourner’s Kaddish. This was definitely a first for RAW and Professional Wrestling. Unfortunately for Mr. Paul Heyman and his client, Goldberg responded with another spear to the Beast leaving him laying outside the ring in a state of disbelief.
The main event at WrestleMania this Sunday evening has a true prize fight feel to it. I may be wrong, but I don’t see this as another 1 – 2 minute match. I expect this encounter to be more physical and brutal than their past few engagements. This will be the “War to Settle the Score”. Please be sure to check back next week for updates and commentary on how our Jewish Superhero, Goldberg, fared against the Beast, Brock Lesnar. What are your predictions for this Sunday’s fight?
