Good citizens of Israel….Arise!

The psalm of this day, Psalm 94, is extremely appropriate in light of recent news. It begins: “O God of vengeance, appear. Arise, O Judge of the earth… O God, how long shall the wicked exult? They utter malicious falsehood… the stranger they slay…who will rise up for me against evil-doers? Who will stand up  for me against the workers of iniquity?”

Through eyes dimmed by tears of fear, I read the magnificent albeit very frightening op-ed piece in today’s TIMES OF ISRAEL, a superb opinion by a superb journalist, our very esteemed editor, David Horovitz.

In it he unfolds bitter and unhappy news of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s capitulation to Jewish terrorists in order to boost the number of possible seats his Likud party could gain in the April elections.  Netanyahu has gone to bed with the devil, with Satan, the sworn enemy of the decent Jewish people.

He would join hands with the Kahanists who preached the virtues of killing Arabs, of driving Arab-Israeli citizens out of our/their country. We saw the fate which ended the life of Meir Kahane because of his bigotry. We saw the tragedy of Yigal Amir’s assassination of Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin, a leader who sought peace with the Palestinians..

God forbid that we should see another political assassination. Prime Minister Netanyahu must go !

He must be defeated on April 9^th in the election booths. He must go out by the ballot, NOT, God forbid, by the bullet.

Good citizens of Israel, arise! We must never allow our Jewish and democratic nation to fall into the hands of vile racists. The Kahanists must be rejected by every decent Israeli Jew. We must uphold the commandments to do justice and to practice righteousness.

We have been for decades a model of humanity and decency to the nations of the world. We must never permit that true vision to diminish nor disappear.

David Horovitz’s op-ed sent shivers up my spine. It is because he is regarded as one of the leading and most respected journalists in our country that his opinions need to be taken seriously. He does NOT write fake news. David Horovitz is an ish ha-emet, a man of the truth. And his news is true news.

By making an alliance with the religious and once-outlawed Kahanist  practicioners, Netanyahu hopes to gain four or five more seats in the Knesset at the price of seeing Israel’s democracy go down the drain.

While he pretends to care, Bibi Netanyahu is an egoist who puts himself and his family above the State and its people. No former Prime Minister in our country has been more corrupt than Bibi Netanyahu.

Good citizens of Israel… arise !  Put an end to the corruption. Put an end to racism. Put an end to the lies. Put an end to the Likud’s monopoly of government.

As Psalm 94 accuses them of malicious falsehoods, it asks of us “who will rise up against the evil-doers? Who will stand up against the workers of iniquity?”

David Horovitz’s frightening news is a call to action. The people of Israel, Jews and Arabs, must vote to defeat the Likud party and its disgraceful leader on April 9^th.  Let that be a day to be recorded in Jewish history as one of Israel’s finest hours.

I am personally frightened should Bibi’s alliance with our Jewish terrorists be realized.  It would be the death of morality and democracy in Israel.

We cannot permit another Yigal Amir . We cannot permit another Baruch Goldstein who massacred many Muslims during their prayers at the Cave of the Patriarchs, M’orat Ha-Machpela, in Hebron.

We cannot and must not permit racism, hatred and bigotry to replace decency, morality, justice and righteousness.

Good citizens of Israel, rise up in defense of our democratic and Jewish State.  Am Yisrael chai l’olam.

The people of Israel shall live forever.
