Hit Iran Now. Then finish off the Houthis.
Now is the best time to knock off the Iranian regime. Now when we have offered it talks and it has rejected them. When we seem preoccupied with striking the Houthis. When we seem to be planning on temporizing some more with the Ayatollahs.
The head of the snake is the easiest part to kill
Iran’s anti-American snake has only one head, but many tails. It’ll be easier for us to cut off the head and then clean up the tails than the other way around.
All around the region are proxy-tails of Iran. Each tail, unlike the Iranian regime itself, has real local support of its own. This makes it hard to root them out – if we stick to doing them first.
Today, the head of the snake in Tehran is the most vulnerable part of the snake. It has long since lost its popular support. Once it’s gone, the proxies will wither.
How We Topple the Iranian Terrorist Regime
The Iranian people by now overwhelming reject the Islamist regime they have suffered under for 45 years. And, unlike other rebels all around the Mideast, they want it to be replaced by a pro-American, pro-Israel regime. They’ve shown this not only in massive demonstrations but in careful opinion surveys.
The people will do the detail work of rooting out the regime for us. But they’ll do it only after we first make them feel confident enough to spring into action. The regime’s repression is too harsh. And we’ve too often told them they must remain just peaceful protesters. Under our insistence, they’ve fallen into a habit of refusing to organize to topple the regime by force. We are the ones who will have to break that bad habit.
Fortunately, to do that is not hard. We need only knock off Iran’s military-security forces and leaders. We know who they are. We know where the critical ones are. And we know their headquarters and infrastructure. We can take almost all of that out fairly easily. The surviving remainders of the regime can be tracked down and finished off by the people.
The only thing we will still need to do ourselves, after cutting off the regime’s head, is to eliminate its nuclear weapons program. And this means eliminate it completely, not just set it back a few years.
With the regime gone, this will be much easier to do, than if we attempted to do it now before the regime falls.
No more temporizing
And so we see again: Right now is the best time to knock off the Iranian regime. It is gravely weakened. The momentum is against it. Our guns are loaded and thinking about locking on it, if not already locked.
The residues of the Obama-Biden regime are hoping to get Trump to fall back into half-measures instead. They want a half-way deal with the Iranian regime: to let it stay in place if it just compromises enough on its nuclear program, even though that would only mean postponing its nuclear breakout a few more years. The Administration has to talk about peace and thus about a deal, and inevitably a part of the Administration is really tempted by the idea.
But the only real peace program is victory, when America has overwhelming superiority and can knock out the enemy. And when its enemy is one that, by its nature, cannot stop being an enemy. And when that enemy would, if we give it time, sooner or later gain nukes and eliminate our chance for peace. And when we have our best opening for winning easily.
Fortunately Trump, unlike the Obama-Biden people, likes to win. And is determined not to be fooled again.
Let’s hope he follows through fast on this one.
