How do you know if they hate you?
The recent antisemitism conference controversy, regarding far-right politicians who support Israel, begs the question noted in the above title.
When did hatred of Jews start? Our sages say at Mount Sinai. Ever since then, non-Jews hate Jews.
Perhaps it’s because non-Jews are jealous — why they were not given the Torah. Or they are upset — that Jews make them feel guilty.
Haman stated to King Achashveirosh that Jews have different laws. So there is hatred because Jews are different.
So when Jews will succeed in illuminating the world, and non-Jews will accept that the seven Noahide laws (which G-d told Moses at Mount Sinai to tell all the nations) apply to them, and they adhere to these laws, then non-Jews will feel fulfilled. And there will be no reason then to hate Jews.
So what about the conference, and the argument between some Jewish leaders? Many European Jews are afraid of the far-right, but many Israelis feel that if they support Israel, they should be welcomed.
Perhaps the following might help.
When Alan Dershowitz saw that Jesse Helms was honoured at a Chabad event, he was very upset. And he wrote to the Lubavitcher Rebbe about it. How can Lubavitch honour someone who was so unfriendly to Israel?
The Rebbe replied, that Jesse Helms was not an honouree, he had just walked into the event, and that once he was there, they were friendly to him. But, the Rebbe continued, watch what happens.
Dershowitz watched, and he saw how Jesse Helms transformed into one of Israel’s staunchest supporters.
(You can see Dershowitz relating the story by typing into Google search: 7 rules for combating antisemitism | the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Dershowitz’s story is from 16:09 to 20:05)
In other words, people can change.
Our world is changing quickly. Enemies are being either subdued or eliminated, or transformed into friends. Miraculous events are stunningly changing the geopolitical landscape. And people are changing.
Perhaps the entire world is becoming ready to accept a world where G-dliness shines. A world of peace and contentment and Redemption with Moshiach.
May it happen very soon.
