How long still with war crimes and terrorism?

A religious perspective, also suitable for the Agnostic and the Atheist

Judaism knows two types of sinners. Aware sinners and unaware sinners. Israel’s and the world’s politicians may be either, but almost all of them commit the same sin: disunity.

Israel’s cabinet is not responsible for terrorist murders. Terrorists are. But, what message is G^d sending? This is how much divisiveness among Jews hurts Me. (I don’t say this as a prophet. This is basic, standard Judaism.)

Judaism also says that no one sins unless in a jolt of folly. Had you thought things through for a moment, you wouldn’t have sinned. In other words: people don’t sin when they are Bad but because they are short-sighted.

An opposition should criticize. Better, it should come with better plans. Even better, it should try to convince the government to incorporate its ideas. But, whatever way it plays out, stop trying to score points at the expense of the other side, both sides of the aisle. Strive for unity.

Yes, that means that you can’t exaggerate how the PM is endangering the country. Yes, it means you can’t stoke the flame of disgust. Both sides.

Some people ask why Redemption takes so long. Can’t G^d see that we can’t go on like this much longer? I think it sits differently.

G^d still trusts in us. There is no other explanation. Stop waiting for His interference. He’s waiting for us to act properly. Every time you see a total mess, G^d tells you: I Personally believe in you. You can make a difference.

Now, you should ask: Little Moi? Well, it says nowhere that we should go it alone. We can work with others who, too, see what lacks (and understand the Divine hint) and alert others to their chance to merit to contribute.

And would you say: How can unworthy us do anything useful while people so much greater before us didn’t succeed? Then I would answer: Don’t make the mistake of the students of Rabbi Akiba, who said: The generation before the Destruction of the Temple, they were fabulous; in comparison, we are nothing. If you believe in G^d, you must believe that you were born just at the right time to add the little that is missing. Generations already made the soup. We only need to add a little parsley, and it will be perfect. And if you don’t believe in G^d, you probably think you’re the best there ever was. In any case, no one has any excuse to not chip in.
