Howdy. We’re from Start-Up Nation: Israeli innovation and creative spirit on hand at SXSW 2014
Last night in Austin, Israeli start-ups and musical artists convened at a special event with to celebrate, showcase and help facilitate networking during SXSW 2014.
The evening started off with The State of Texas’ Secretary of State, Nandita Berry, welcoming the Israeli companies in attendance and stressed the importance of the bond between Israel and Texas. On hand were ten start-ups and musical entertainment from Israeli techno pop band, Terry Poison.
Last October, I was with Texas Governor Perry when he was in Israel and shot this video where he encouraged Israelis to come to Austin for what is the world’s largest interactive, music and film festival.
And come they did. Big time. Texas Style.
The SXSW 2014 initiative, headed up by the Israel Trade & Economic Office – Southern Region really raised the bar this year with a very successful and fun event. Added into the mix, a team from Israel Bonds was on hand to raise awareness and outreach to a younger crowd about the opportunities to invest in what’s next in Israel.
Kudos to Michal Niddam-Wachsman, Consul for Economic Affairs, and Neil Segel, Trade and Investment Officer who brought together the companies, curated a wonderful crowd of potential partners, investors and VCs, served some outstanding Israeli wine, delicious tapas, and ultimately shined a very bright light on Israel at its best.
