I have nothing more to say

Bet you’ve rarely heard political pundits say that sentence. Almost.

But it’s true – there’s not much left to say about the chaotic US election scenarios that have been presented by naysayers in both camps. Looming doomsday prophecies, exclamations of distraught are coming in from all sides. Let’s be honest, this hasn’t been a very pretty campaign, nor has there been much substantive discussion. BUT – if you look past the personalities and focus on the policies, there are some major differences.

I’ll focus on the one I know best: foreign policy. We have on the one hand, a standing Vice President who’s co-responsible for America’s role in major crises around the world. And there are quite a few, from Russia to Iran and the Middle East. On the other, we have an ex-President with a track record for strength overseas. Take a look at the two periods in history and you’ll see that, despite the rhetoric and the sound bytes, America was in a better state when it stood strong against despots and arm wrestling, under President Trump, than the situation we are left with under the Biden-Kamala era right now.

You might not like the guy, and there’s a lot not to like. But it’s not a warm hug or a reassuring, semi-hoarse snippet that this voter needs from a world leader; it’s the depth of ability to respond to ongoing threats with strong, solid policies.

If you aren’t convinced by the person-vs-policy argument, take a look at the people around the leader. Foreign policy, as our example here, will be framed by the advisors and Cabinet members chosen to fill those positions. While Trump continues to choose involved, educated pro-Israel foreign policy warriors, Kamala surrounds herself with people who’ve accused Israel of the worst in war crimes and who promote policies that reward terror and threaten our borders. Look it up for yourself – you’ll see.

There truly is nothing more to say. No matter who inhabits the White House next, he or she will have to step up and act as a good friend should. Allies stand together, friends provide support. Israel expects nothing less from the United States, regardless of its leadership’s personalities. Because it is the policy, not the person, that matters most in these very serious times. That is all there is to say.

See you after Election Day!
