In Service of Continuous Illumination: Torah Portion Tetzaveh
In Memory of Arthur Rudnikoff ( Asher ben Zvi)
who commissioned a Menorah in memory of Betty Rudnikoff, (Rivka bat Yehoshua) his beloved wife, for The Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue in Montreal
The Ner Tamid is the eternal light,
Illumination of the partnership
With the Divine between heaven and earth,
Daily lit in the Temple’s antechamber,
Welcoming the presence of the Divine,
As a continuous reminder to us,
We are made in the image of the Divine;
Thus, earth should be in the image of heaven.
For the Temple to be true to its name,
It must bestow its pure candescence,
Reflected as a light unto the nations,
On condition, we are who we were meant to be.
The choice is ours, how will we live our lives?
The verdict still awaits our evidence.
