In Support of Governor Mike Huckabee’s Nomination
Few American public officials can match Governor Mike Huckabee’s unwavering,
decades-long commitment to Israel and the US-Israel relationship. At a time when
Israel faces intense and growing security challenges, increasing global hostility, and
mounting opposition here in America, Governor Huckabee’s nomination as US
ambassador to Israel will help strengthen and expand the enduring partnership between the United States and the Jewish state, ensuring America continues to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Israel for generations to come.
Although I personally disagree with some of the views of the current presidential
administration, the American people made a clear choice in November, and when it
comes to Jewish and US-Israel issues, Governor Huckabee is well-suited to serve as
US ambassador to Israel.
Gov. Huckabee has been a consistent and outspoken advocate for Israel for decades,
driven by his personal commitment to Israel and what it represents, as he expressed in his confirmation hearing this week: “Israel, in many ways, is a reflection of our own heritage and history. It is the Judeo-Christian law that there is a right and that there is a wrong, upon which all Western civilization is built and certainly our system of government. There is no country, across the globe, that more mirrors our own struggle and our own level of democracy, than does the state of Israel. And it’s one of the reasons that it is a natural ally.” With over 70 visits to Israel, he has demonstrated not just rhetorical support but a tangible commitment to understanding and defending the Jewish state. His first-hand experience with Israel’s security needs, its geopolitical challenges, and the resilience of its people makes him exceptionally well-equipped to serve as America’s representative in Jerusalem.
He has long championed the US-Israel alliance as one based not only on mutual
strategic interests but on shared moral and democratic values. As a leader who believes in the importance of national sovereignty and the right of nations to defend themselves, he has been an unwavering supporter of Israel’s security and legitimacy on the world stage.
Gov. Huckabee’s leadership around Israel and antisemitism is marked by moral clarity — something that is desperately needed in today’s political environment, where too many political leaders around the world make excuses for terrorism and draw a false moral equivalence between Israel and the terrorists it’s fighting. While some struggle to make this distinction, Gov. Huckabee has never hesitated to call out terrorism and antisemitism for what they are, saying just this week: “I cannot imagine under any circumstances that any right-minded person would find it acceptable to support or even acknowledge that there was justification in any way for the massacre of innocent civilians on October 7.” His strong voice will help ensure that the United States continues to stand unequivocally with Israel against threats from Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah — which are threats to America too.
One of Gov. Huckabee’s greatest strengths is his ability to bridge communities,
stemming from his 14 years as an elected official. As a leader with deep ties to the
evangelical Christian community, he brings with him an understanding of a vast swath of Americans who support Israel and the US-Israel relationship. His ability to further solidify grassroots support for Israel among Americans helps ensure that the alliance between the two nations will remain strong, not just at the governmental level, but among the people themselves.
Throughout his career, Gov. Huckabee has stood side by side with the Jewish
community in America, including speaking out against antisemitism and the wave of pro-Hamas protests at American colleges and universities today. He will carry out that commitment as ambassador, as he said in his confirmation hearing: “The Jewish people need to know they have friends. There’s a long line of enemies that the Jewish people experience across this globe, and sadly, on some of our own university campuses. It’s going to be a privilege to be able to be one of those people, not Jewish, Christian in fact, but to say to our Jewish friends: You will never go through what you’ve gone through alone. We will stand, not behind you, we will stand with you.” His commitment to religious freedom and the safety of Jewish Americans leaves no doubt that he will continue to stand firmly against rising antisemitism, both at home and abroad.
At a time when Israel’s security and legitimacy are being challenged, Gov. Huckabee’s nomination sends a powerful message: The United States remains unwavering in its support for its closest ally in the Middle East. His experience, commitment, and principled leadership make him the ideal choice to further strengthen the US-Israel bond and represent America’s interests with integrity and conviction.
For those who believe in a strong, secure Israel and an unbreakable US-Israel
relationship, Gov. Huckabee’s confirmation would be a resounding affirmation of our nation’s enduring commitment to its most important ally in the region.
