Introduction to The Symphony of Psalms

Symphony of the Psalms
(Introduction- After having written two short collections of poems on the Psalms, this is the beginning of a new
collection of poems on the Psalms, specifically for the readers of the Times of Israel. It is written for periods when in
need of solace, healing, stillness or just to find our inner compass for joy by which to celebrate our link to G-d,
humanity, and the universe; all of which surrounds us in recognition of our inner and outer journeys. This series on
the Psalms will be interspersed with other writings to give variety to readers.)

The symphony of Psalms
Reverberates on David’s harp,
Echoing its melodies in harmony
Throughout the Universe.

The Divine conducts His orchestra,
Instructing winds to brush majestic trees,
Only to be hushed into stillness,
In awe of a rainbow of flowers,
Dancing to hushed breezes.

The L-rd gives His breath
To humanity with tunes played on the halil
That resound in chorus
To the song of each river,
Awakened by the seas.

The drumbeat of rain
pounds its rhythm in grand finale
As cymbals clash with thunder,
Silenced by the sunrise.

(Halil– flute)
