Jerusalem

This world is not enough for someone as beautiful as you
Every starry night your sweet name was kissed by the soul of every wandering Jew
Reviving our broken heart like the gentle dew.
O Jerusalem, our home, our lighthouse across the two fold millennia horizon blue.

In your enchanted Judean Hills
Sing the songs of Judaic Souls along the gentle breeze blown daffodils
Countless pilgrims climbed you to stand still
In His Awe, to bow down to His Eternal Holy Will

Swirling clouds reflecting the dreams of weathered faces
in prayer shawls of old men standing East from distant places
Flaming trees along the road, lovesick, calling us back home from exiled birthplaces.
Now I understand how you held us in your breast across all time and spaces

How you suffered for our dignity!
Living forsaken and abysmally.
Letting no else but us to embrace you for nearly an eternity
How we both survived without each other, miserably.

At the Wailing Wall when hope was in no sight
and when our destiny seemed never again to be right
the poor women would sit and cry until you gave them the might
to stand up again to full height

Your whirling roadways and holy imbued pathways,
full of amber sun filled majestic rays
with night filled breeze and winter chill singing full of your Praise.
every Soul in a childlike mellow daze

lying down on the linen land
holding each other in a Holy Band.
Oh, we suffered for our Homeland
O Jerusalem on our heart! Our Love! Our eternal Armband!

This world is not enough for someone as beautiful as you
But we will always learn to love you – the quest of the Eternal Jew!
O Jerusalem!
Our Eternal drum!
