Laughter

Have you ever ever woken up and realized that you’re still dreaming?

The world is like a dream. Things are happening that never happened before. Israel is a superpower doing what it wants. The whole world is screaming at Israel to stop doing this or that, and Israel just continues doing what it wants.

Israel just passed a law to stop the United Nations’ relief agency from operating in Gaza and the West Bank. The world screams, the United States screams, but Israel is a superpower.

Have you ever dreamed of a time when the Jewish people will be on top of the world, and then you wake up with the realization that the dream is still happening? We are on top of the world. Israel and the Jewish people are in charge, eradicating evil for the benefit of all mankind.

“Yisroel bitach b’Hashem” — Israel trusts in G-d. After October 7, Prime Minister Netanyahu started doing something that I’ve been told was unusual for him. He ended practically every speech with the words “with G-d‘s help.” “With G-d‘s help we will be victorious…With G-d‘s help we will defeat the enemy.”

With G-d’s help the dream is real.

Psalm 126 is recited before the Grace after meals, on Shabbat and Festivals. “A song of ascents, when G-d will return the captives of Zion we were like dreamers. Then our mouths will be filled with laughter, and our tongues with joy. Then the nations will say that G-d dealt graciously with us. G-d dealt graciously with us and we were happy.”

I once read that the Lubavitcher Rebbe liked to quote an interpretation on this verse: “Then the nations will say that G-d dealt graciously with us.” And the Jewish people will reply: “G-d dealt graciously with us, because we were happy.”

It’s good to be happy. It’s good to realize the blessings that we are being blessed with. It’s good to see how G-d has been miraculously watching over the Jewish people and leading us to victory. It’s good to rejoice in G-d’s salvation. It’s good to be happy.

The Psalm continues: “Bring back to us, Lord, our captives, like water rushing to arid land (in the south); those who planted with tears will reap with joy. We walked to and fro crying. carrying the bag of seed, but then we will surely come with joy, carrying the sheaves (of the harvest).”

We have reason to rejoice for the miracles that G-d has done for us till now. And soon the laughter, rejoicing and happiness will be so much more, and we will welcome our imminent Redemption with Moshiach.

May it happen very soon.
