Looking forward to history

What is happening today will be the legacy which we leave behind for those who follow. For those of us who care deeply about the kind of future world we want for those we love, the time has come to stop focusing on the minutia of our lives in order to reflect on the much larger political chaos of the globe.

It is an uncomfortable imperative. Most of us would prefer to expend our brain’s energy on very local issues. Our work, our family, our friends, our city, our schools, our social causes or religious affiliations. These are the very places where we can see tangible results for energy spent. It is a much harder task to focus on what is actually happening in the larger scope of political trends.

It is beyond our comfort zone to actually consider larger world issues which we think have no relevance to our own lives. Why should we be concerned that the European Union might be in fact, a dangerous entity intent on robbing each of its Nation states of their own identity, language and customs? Why bother to be concerned about the United Nations with member states which rewrite history and chose to assault Israel daily while ignoring human tragedies around the globe? Why bother ourselves if the intent of Islam is to conquer the minds and bodies of all who do not accept their way of life? When Islam admits that it intends to divide and destroy Western values, why can we not accept their stated purpose? Perhaps because it is all too horrific to consider, we thus presume – we must have misunderstood.

Take a few moments to reflect on recent crucial events which have begun to redefine the narrative of free societies.

The trend today is not to look at history, but to re-write it. Instead of understanding how and why slavery came into existence (and slavery clearly was a way of building civilizations from the beginning of time) … now that we are sophisticated and enlightened people, we will damn every leader who lived in an era which was not ready to move forward with equality and civil rights. We will destroy their memory and their monuments and show how clever we are to have been born after all that has preceded us.  We now judge all who have come before, by our moral values of the moment with no thought to context.

If we are so enlightened, how is it that we are prepared to allow our own societies to crumble?  If citizens are prepared to dishonor their police forces, their nation’s flags, and symbols, what exactly do they envision will replace them?  The very entities which are currently being held in contempt will be replaced by others which represent the opposite of the rule of the laws created through democratic processes. They will be replaced by dictators and powers not the least bit interested in the expression of individual needs or rights.  Not understanding that the current fomenting of discontent among the masses elsewhere is also bringing anarchy upon ourselves – is to allow the eventual destruction of our own way of life. Take in case the “Arab Spring.”  Clearly the citizens of Western democratic nations feel that the chain of Arab nations which imploded through the rebellion of their masses, has nothing to do with them.  Power to the people…but the people who brought to rubble their imperfect systems of government and  hung their leaders in the public squares, have been left in chaos with nothing to replace the previous flawed leadership.

The idea that “one world order” is the future for our planet is an illusion.  It is not working on any of the levels where it has been implemented.  The current experiment is an European Union which has allowed mass migration from  war zones to reshape the face of once unique nations with their own cultures and ways of life. It has brought forth a United Nations which has failed the people it purports to bring under one umbrella.  Empty condemnations about human mass slaughter in nations across the globe do not provide a better future or a way forward.  No effort to stop the slaughter or hold all nations equally accountable illuminates the reality of the failure of a once grand dream known as the U.N.

Last week the film “The Fight of our Lives” (subtitled “Fighting the Ideological war against the West” ) – premiered in Jerusalem.  This new documentary film by Gloria Greenfield is painful to watch but critical to view. The most clear-thinking political analysts of today explain in detail how the free world is getting it all “horribly wrong.”  Without reflecting on the repeated miscalculations of the West, there will be no future for peace loving nations which accept that the Judeao-Christian ethic is the value system which makes the free world unique. It is not about going to church or synagogue. It is about realizing that the values of the West are very different than those of fundamentalist Islam.  For women who really care about their sisterhood… Islam is the enemy.  For those who feel sexual choice is the private right of an individual…Islam is the enemy.

For those who believe that the freedom to accept or reject any religious philosophy is their right…Islam is their enemy. For those who feel that they have a right to voice their opinions and elect leaders who reflect them… Islam is their enemy.  How is it that those who march in the thousands for each of those causes cannot see what is before them? How is it that the Islamists have infiltrated each of the social agendas so that the followers will also embrace them – paying no attention to their ultimate goal?

This documentary film focuses on the major miscalculation of the century – The concept of “Multi-Culturalism.” One is not a “good person” because he allows another culture to descend upon his own and swallow it whole.  Ignoring the goals of those intent on destroying your way of life – is suicide. One can only live side by side with those who have another culture, when that culture is not intent on destroying your own.

A refusal to face what is unfolding before our collective eyes will bring an end of our freedom to express ourselves and the life we have come to cherish.  If anything was ever worth fighting for, these essential values are what defines who we are and what we want to become.  Pretending what is happening in the rest of the world has no impact on our future, is an illusion which is being shattered. Closing our eyes simply invites the enemies of all we hold dear to systematically destroy the fiber of our lives. We must face our new reality.  The 21st century “clash of civilizations” has arrived.
