The Knesset has passed its first reading of a Suspension bill, primarily directed against the Arab members of the Knesset who violate the State’s laws in the guise of immunity.
Visiting families of terrorists, defaming the State, refusing to abide by their oath of allegiance is considered “inappropriate” behavior. Arab Knesset members have threatened to resign if the bill passes by the 90 required votes.
Let them resign. Their contribution to the State and to the Arab citizens of Israel whom they are elected to represent is minimal. The hateful language which they spew is not needed in the Knesset plenum. We have sufficient Jewish hateful language, regrettably.
The “inappropriate” behavior of the Arabs is akin to that of the Haredi community. Today they harassed Women of the Wall in prayer, cursing at them, and driving them away from the Wall which should be sacred to every Jew, male and female, religious and non-religious alike. Before God’s presence, every Jew is equal and holy. Beards and payot do not make for holiness.
The Haredim demand segregation of the sexes on Jerusalem’s buses. Woe be to the female passenger who is sitting in a seat to close to them .
Like some Arabs, the Haredim give almost nothing to our country . They take freely of our social services while disdaining everything that our State stands for.
Democracy and equality are not words found in Talmudic tractates, regrettably.
Neither is derech eretz… common courtesy.
Just recently there was an incident aboard an ElAl flight from the USA to Tel-Aviv. A Haredi man objected to sit next to an 81 year old female passenger. Shouting and cursing, he demanded from the ElAl personnel to remove the woman from the seat which she had paid for.
That ElAl offered to give the woman an upgrade to a seat in first class does not matter. It is not the issue. It is simply not right! For shame, ElAl.
El Al should reserve a section of seats for Haredi men who object to sitting next to women other than their wives.
It was inappropriate for ElAl to offer the female passenger an upgrade. They should have defended her right to sit in the assigned seat for which she had paid. They should have given the Haredi passenger the option of flying or leaving the flight.
What we need in Israel is a new airline. We can call it Haredi Airways. Their motto can be “Flying with us brings you closer to God’s heaven”.
They assault women at the Wall. They assault women on buses. Now they have elevated their disgraceful assaults to women on Israeli airlines. I wonder how the staff of Delta airlines, Lufthansa, Air France et al would have re-acted to the Haredi demand. Only ElAl caved in.
If our Knesset considers the Arabs guilty of “inappropriate” behavior, al achat kama v’kama…how much more so should they apply the proposed law to the Haredim whose lack of respect for others is despised by all non-Haredi sectors of the Israeli public.
