Manage your finances, reduce stress, improve your life

Why does the mere mention of money make some people break out in a cold sweat or experience other physical symptoms such as migraines?  The simple truth is that money itself cannot physically affect us, it is not possible.

Money does not have arms and legs, it cannot chase us and it cannot hurt us, it is our thinking about money, or the lack of money, and not the circumstances themselves which harm us.  How is it for example that one day one can see debt and it seems insurmountable and feel unable to cope, and yet on another occasion it really does not look so intimidating and can be solved with a few tweaks?  The circumstances have not changed but the way we are thinking about the circumstances has. It is just a simple misunderstanding of how the mind works.

We have an amazing GPS system built into us, our feelings, they are our guide.  So, if one feels stressed, it is because one is having a stressful thought.  Our feelings have no idea who we are, how old we are, how much debt we are in or how much money we have in the bank.  Our feelings are based on what we are thinking at a particular moment, nothing more than that.

If we are feeling uncomfortable and stressed it is because we are having some worrying thoughts about a specific issue.  The more stressful thoughts we have, the more we take them seriously, which will in turn generate more of the same thoughts. It is like running on a hamster wheel, we go round and round and find it pretty difficult to get off. However, if we stop running, the wheel will stop going round and we can easily get off on to safe ground.

One of the best remedies for financial stress is to first of all recognize the type of stress that we are experiencing.  Are we trying to keep up appearances and are therefore not in tune with our true selves?  Are we trying to keep up with the Joneses and therefore not prioritizing our expenses and, as a consequence, feel out of control?

Do we know where we are going with our finances? Are we aware of the stresses our lack of direction is causing?  Imagine driving your car and having no idea where you are going, what type of stress do you feel?

Financial stress is so easily avoided by building and working with a budget, defining your financial goals and planning financially for them. That is precisely where we can help you.
