The Power of Prayer
The violence that has been unleashed through the three murdered Israeli and one murdered Palestinean teens has led to a dangerous re-escalation of hatred throughout the region. Through the years, the terrorists have become increasingly virulent, if not immune to military strike retribution. We need to find a better way.
. Over the Forth of July holiday I found myself in Washington D.C. and decided to put action into my rhetoric. It was a true Gandhi moment. I sat down near a tree in front of the White House Gate on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and rooted out one very symbolic weed out hatred. When I asked the Secret Service for permission to root out a symbolic weed, they were not sure what to think of it. They did not understand that this simple but potent act tapping into the deepest roots of Kabbalah. I could only imagine what the British soldiers thought back in Gandhi’s era, when he marched to the sea to make salt. After receiving their permission, I proceeded to root out the weed.
Perhaps next time I would even dare to do the unthinkable….to plant a seed of peace where hatred once thrived! Perhaps things could change if we all could plant this kind of symbolic and literal seed.
For almost four years, I have been lobbying the White House for a globally televised Weed Out Hate Moment, in which children all over the world would be called upon to root out billions of weeds. Mr. President, hear our cries: Let’s weed out hate and sow the seeds of peace. If you believe in the power of prayer, try this out near the door posts of your houses and your gates. Multiply this action by a few billion or so and maybe things can change.
