My 600-lb Nation

“My 600-lb Life,” a reality television series about morbidly obese individuals seeking treatment with physician and surgeon, Dr. Now (Dr. Younan Nowzaradan) in Houston, TX has been a ratings success since 2012.

Each episode features a man or woman struggling with the effects of their weight, from low quality of life to dependency on others. Most, if not all, of the participants have severe lymphedema and are barely mobile. Dr. Now counsels them, and upon their losing 80 to 100 pounds, performs weight loss surgery.

The series resemble the last the last few years of American political life.

We watched the Left’s efforts to change America’s history, destroy its institutions and even remove its monuments. It weaponized Congress, Department of Justice and FBI against its political enemies, to wit, Donald Trump and his supporters.

He was impeached twice. After he left office, his home was raided and he was charged with vague and novel crimes.

Democrats were aided by the mainstream press whose reporters, analysts and pundits daily defamed Trump, mocked evidence of the Biden family’s self-enrichment and hid Biden’s cognitive decline and lack of fitness for office.

Then something happened.

Call it the gastric band surgery of the body politic.

America decided it had enough and rejected drug overdose deaths, racial division, military men in dresses, sexual grooming of children, invasion of women’s athletics. The courts started to react. Forgiveness of federal student loans and mortgage moratoriums were held to be unconstitutional. Escalating crime in progressive jurisdictions, billions spent to house feed, school and support illegal aliens did the rest.

Call it the defining sugar overload moment.

Americans finally realized that unless they took personal action to stop it, the downward trajectory would be fatal.

Election Day, November 5, 2024.

Unlike 2019, this time Republicans were ready with trained poll-watchers and attorneys and Trump won the national election.

Gone, too, is the influence of the “legacy press”. Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter (which previously banned Trump) changed the balance of power.

Republicans now control the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Inauguration Day, January 20, 2025.

We have been told that Trump has a pocket full of Executive Orders which will restore the border, unleash energy production, and reverse the policies of the past few years.

It recalls one of “My 600-lb Life”’s participants, now newly slender, taking off like butterfly emerging from a chrysalis.
