Netanyahu invited to White House next week

Wire services are reporting and Washington sources are confirming that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been invited to the White House for another round of meetings next week.

The invitation was due to be presented to the Prime Minister by Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff who is in Israel for his son’s bar mitzvah, on Wednesday.

The deliberately low profile of the last Bibi visit in March touched off rumors of insultingly shoddy treatment that became more lurid with each new round of emails circulating in the Jewish community – almost all of which turned out to be inaccurate.

You can bet the administration will be careful to crank up the diplomatic pomp a degree or two for next week’s meeting as part of its Jewish charm offensive.

Next week’s talks will cover a range of issues, the White House is telling reporters.
