Netanyahu’s Failure
The murder of the hostages is a deep wound in the nation’s heart. During these difficult times, when the people need strong and unifying leadership, we are once again confronted with cynical propaganda from Benjamin Netanyahu’s camp. Rather than demonstrating responsibility and leading the country with dignity and compassion, Netanyahu focuses on public relations, distracting from the real issues and attempting to mask his ongoing failures with empty rhetoric.
Having served as Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office under the late Yitzhak Rabin and worked closely with him for many years, I feel a deep sense of pain every time I witness how the places where we invested so much effort have become abandoned and neglected. This neglect is not only a betrayal of the hard work put in over the years, but also of our national responsibility.
Instead of uniting the people during times of crisis, Netanyahu continues to exploit tragic events for political gain, all while neglecting the north and other regions of the country. What Israel needs now is courageous leadership with real managerial competence—qualities Benjamin Netanyahu severely lacks. The country requires leaders who look beyond narrow political interests and act with genuine dedication to the well-being of its citizens and the security of the state.
The most troubling fact is that Benjamin Netanyahu, who has long portrayed himself as a staunch opponent of terrorism, was the one who released thousands of terrorists, including Yahya Sinwar. He handed over ancestral lands to the Palestinians and strongly supported the decision to transfer tens of millions of Qatari dollars to Hamas on a regular basis. These funds were ultimately used to finance the rockets and missiles launched at Israeli citizens and to build an Islamist terror army along our southern border. Instead of cutting off terrorism’s financial lifelines, Netanyahu ensured their continued flow.
The time has come to end Netanyahu’s rule and the destructive government he leads, driven by personal, messianic, extreme right-wing, and non-Zionist agendas. A real government must work tirelessly, day and night, out of a genuine commitment to the security of the state, the well-being of its citizens, and the health of the economy—especially in times of war. This is not the moment for cheap propaganda; it is the moment for courageous leadership that will safeguard our future. It’s time to send Netanyahu, his ministers, and the Likud members of Knesset home. They are the ones responsible for the disaster of October 7th. Each one of them bears responsibility, but Netanyahu, the main culprit, continues to evade accountability because he cannot imagine life outside the role of Prime Minister, indulging in the intoxicating power he and his family enjoy.
Under Netanyahu’s leadership, Israel has hit rock bottom. It’s hard to imagine sinking even lower, but with Netanyahu, it’s always possible. He prioritizes his position over the country, personal interests over national interests, and the Philadelphi Corridor over the lives of the hostages he has abandoned.
On the night of Yitzhak Rabin’s assassination, I said I had lost my country—that’s truly how I felt. It marked the beginning of the decline, with the added encouragement of the “angel of sabotage,” as Yitzhak Shamir once called it. On November 1, 2022, when Netanyahu was re-elected, I felt that same loss again. But I never imagined the catastrophe this man would lead us into on October 7th and each day since. Israeli citizens must do everything in their power to swiftly push for elections before we lose our country—not just in theory, but in reality.
