Ode to Tlaib and Omar of ‘The Squad’

“The idea that one person’s ‘terrorist’ is another’s ‘freedom fighter’ cannot be sanctioned. Freedom fighters or revolutionaries don’t blow up buses containing non-combatants; terrorist murderers do. Freedom fighters don’t set out to capture and slaughter children; terrorist murderers do. Freedom fighters don’t assassinate innocent businessmen, or hijack and hold hostage innocent men, women and children; terrorist murderers do. It is a disgrace that democracies would allow the treasured word ‘freedom’ to be associated with the acts of the terrorists.” [Senator Henry M. Jackson, July 1979].

Paul Kengor writing in The Spectator of July 22, 2019 under the title of ” The ‘Squad’ Becomes the Untouchables” rightfully notes that they and AOC are more immune to criticism than even Obama was. Professor Kengor astutely notes that for eight years, criticism of Barack Obama automatically resulted in one being “smeared a racist.”
Presumably now, in the evolving years, criticism of AOC, Tlaib, and Omar will be a handy weapon for “knifing opponents” on race, Islam and women, according to the doctrine of the extreme Left.

Kengor sees them as the literal poster girls for the Democratic Socialists of America and the “Justice Democrats.” One has only to visit the websites of such groups to view images of them profiled together appropriately “gazing leftward to the sunny optimism of collective utopia.” They are to be found on lead pages and even on mastheads of progressive websites. Their appearances together in TV interviews, “stoically framing themselves as [in AOC’s words] ‘fighters’ for ‘justice’ against the evil Trump’s ‘weaponized’ bottom-to-the-barrel vitriol.”

They have established themselves as the face of the New Left of their party.

“The United States is running concentration camps on our southern border, and that is exactly what they are, ” says an outrageous Ocasio-Cortez [AOC]. “They are concentration camps.” As for Rashida Tlaib, a healer of the partisan divide, minutes after her swearing-in [with her little boy next to her], she vowed to a room of howling, stomping liberals, “We’re gonna impeach the motherf—er!”.

Kengor notes that few congressional freshman in memory have been as “out-of-the-gate acrimonious as AOC, Tlaib and Omar.” He notes further that for eight years, criticism of Barak Obama was automatic grounds to get one smeared a racist. For some time thereafter, criticism of “The Squad” will have one smeared as that and more “—on race, on Islam, on women,” and on socialism. Professor Kengor rightfully warns us that the Left will find AOC, Tlaib and Omar to be a handy weapon for knifing opponents.

He also expresses dismay that the two named Muslim members of “The Squad” succeeded in having the Congress decide that they were not anti-Semites given an investigation of their history which demonstrates otherwise. His reasons:

[a] They have accused American Jews of being more loyal to Israel, than to the interests of the US.
[b] They have held Jews directly responsible for the supposed negative actions of Israel.
[c] Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination by claiming that the existence of the State of Israel is a racist endeavor.

As for the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, her abundant wealth is superseded by her desire for power to the extent she will protect “The Squad”, despite her not agreeing with them.

David French, a senior writer for National Review and a senior fellow at the subject institute, penned, “Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib Partnered with Vicious Anti-Semites to Plan Their Trip to Israel” on April 16, 2019.” His report is extremely revealing unlike most others. It provides the necessary rational for the actions of the key players.

He asserts that Netanyahu’s blocking of Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar from visiting Israel handed them a short-term propaganda victory and not severe damage. Further, he asserts that this is not the most important part of the story. Nor, the fact that Netanyahu astutely adjuster the position on Omar permitting her to only visit her grandmother. According to French:

[1] The outstanding element of the story relates to the fact that two American congresswomen rejected a bipartisan congressional delegation on an independent trip to Israel “sponsored by vicious anti- Semites”
[2] Equally important is that as of present times, the mainstream media have “whitewashed Omar and Tlaib’s vile associations” with the possible exception of the Washington Post on July 21, 2019. From this, we learn that the subject trip to Jerusalem was planned by Miftah, a non-profit organization by headed by no-less than the Christian Palestinian lawmaker and longtime “peace” negotiator, Hanan Ashrawi. Apparently, the New York Times, in an editorial, referred to Miftah as a group which “promotes global awareness and knowledge of Palestinian realities.”

French reminds us that Seth Mandel of the Washington Examiner has pointed to multiple additional sources of layer upon layer of vile anti-Semitism exhibited by Miftah. To French it was “like peeling an onion of evil.”Upon further examination of Miftah, French observed the following:

[a] The group actually published blood libel by accusing “the Jews [of using] the blood of Christians in the Jewish Passover.” When challenged by pro-Israel activists, they returned an unconvincing response.
[b] In “Let Us Honor Our Own”, they celebrate terrorists, including an evil woman who assisted in the 1978 murder of 38 Israeli civilians including 13 children, described as the “Coastal Road Massacre,” consequent to a bus high jacking. Miftah views Dalal Al Mughrabi as “a Palestinian fighter” being one of their people’s “national heroes.”
[c] Female suicide bomber Wafa Idrees is described as the “beginning of a string of Palestinian women dedicated to scarifying their lives for the cause.”
[d] Hanadi Jaradat is singled out for recognition, being a woman who blew herself up in a restaurant in which 21 people [including 4 children] were killed.[This occurred in Haifa in October 2003 and included three generations of two entire families. Of the 4 children, 2 were very young and 1 was a baby].
[e] In the words of Ms. Ashrawi, Miftah’s founder justifying Jihadist violence, “you cannot somehow adopt the language of either the international community or the occupier by describing anybody who resists as terrorist.”
[f] Miftah has published an article questioning Israel as a proper homeland for the Jewish people.

Yet another worthy National Review contribution on two of the principle delegates of “The Squad” appeared in their Feb 13, 2019 edition, entitled “Don’t Accept Omar ‘s Phony Alibis for Hate” authored by Jonathan S. Tobin. His assertion that “those who grant Omar and Tlaib absolution for a well-worded apology while ignoring their continued support for an anti-Semitic policy are giving credibility to a cause that deserves none”, speaks volumes.

Tobin also recognizes Omar and Tlaib’s continuous support of BDS and Israel’s elimination, and this too makes their talk of not wanting to hurt the feelings of Jews utterly disingenuous.

While Tobin engages a truly objective evaluation of the combatants, he fails to recognize Trump as an enigma. On several occasions Trump is given to talking before thinking, On the other hand, in the case of “The Squad,” where there is a questionable anti-Semitic action, one could substitute the words “a persistent form of hatred” as used by Robert S. Wistrich in his “The Longest Hatred.”

The whole point of singling out AIPAC, of all Washington lobbies, is to delegitimize the right of the Jews to a state. According to Tobin, Omar sees Israel’s existence as the problem, not its policies or the activities of its American supporters.

The Guardian’s “‘The lesson to remain hopeful’: Ilhan Omar’s journey from Somalia to refugee to US Congress “was published on 12 November, 2018. In the body of the Op Ed, it has a rather curious comment while the Guardian is confident the interviewees were speaking in good faith, it is now clear these memories were erroneous.”

Exposed:” What Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib were planning to do” by Ben Sales appeared in Arutz 7 of 18/08/2019. This essay represents a definite confirmation of the facts.

Israel’s government announced on the Thursday that it would not allow the Democratic congresswomen to make their scheduled visit the approaching weekend, because both had declared support for the Israel boycott movement. A 2017 law entitles the State to enforce compliance.

However, Tlaib was granted entry on a humanitarian trip to visit her grandmother in the West Bank. First, she accepted but hours later she rejected.

In explaining the decision, Netanyahu cited the lawmakers’ itinerary, which he said “reveals that the sole purpose of their [planned] visit is to harm Israel and increase incitement against it.”

The revealed itinerary—-titled “Delegation to Palestine ” had Tlaib and Omar travelling through major PA population centers in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria to a string of meetings with pro-PA nonprofits and activists, in addition to international human rights groups.

There was no plan for meetings with any Israeli political officials, including Arab Knesset members. Nor visits to Israel’s internationally recognized borders. They were scheduled to meet a PA official, Hanan Ashrawi, a member of the executive committee of the PLO.

Also included to be present at one of the meetings was the anti-IDF B’Tselem human rights group, together with 3 other non-Israel organizations. Finally, they were to tour Heron, hosted by the left wing anti-IDF Israel left-wing group, Breaking the Silence.

A report on Miftah’s site from 2006 about PA women in the 2nd intifada praises Wafa Idris, responsible for the 2006 suicide bombing in downtown Jerusalem where one Israeli civilian was killed and 150 people were injured. Idris was the 1st female suicide bomber of the 2nd intifada marking “the beginning of a string of Palestinian women dedicated to sacrificing their lives for the cause.”

Miftah says Idris, the1st female suicide bomber of the 2nd intifada, “marked the beginning of a string of Palestinian women dedicated to sacrificing their lives for the cause. Interestingly, even J Street PAC did not endorse Tlaib or Omar.

Upon reflection, it would seem that AOC, Omar and Tlaib truly believe that they are the beneficiaries of a long held myth, the indigenous “Palestinians.” This undoubtedly stems from ages of dishonest Arab leaders. The question which arises is what it would take for them to embrace the truth. One is left with the impression that they have been so brain washed as to shun a reading of Richard Mather’s ” So-called Palestinians have no history in Israel——except as terrorists.” A study of history commencing with the Balfour Declaration, and all the succeeding international law would demonstrate entitlement. It would also show who were the initiators of wars and that in every instance, Israel was a defender.

Who initiated suicide terrorism? Whose creativity extended to blowing up the World Trade Center? Who in modern times engaged in emasculating humans by chopping off heads in full view of the world? Who created the infamous “refugee” problem? As for time immemorial, you may wish to consult Romans and Greeks. In any event, neither Donald Trump nor Benjamin Netanyahu are responsible for your problems.

History has the answers to all these questions, and not the lies of your leaders. And as for those non-Muslims who feel they are equipped to understand the Wiley Oriental Gentlemen, some advice from established historian, David Pryce-Jones; “Westerners habitually and ignorantly misconceive the responses from the Arabs, unsuitably and even laughingly projecting their own political and moral attitudes where these cannot apply,”
