Open Letter to Reverend Franklin Graham

Franklin Graham, the son of Reverend Billy Graham was on Fox “News” as a guest on Judge Jeanine Pirro’s show. Keep in mind we are going through the COVID-19 pandemic that has already cost the lives of thousands of people, regardless if they were bad or good. This virus has no prejudice. However, the reverend had a different opinion. In his own words, as you see here, he says “people are dying of the Coronavirus because man has sinned against god. He goes on to say the pandemic is happening because the world has turned its back on God.”

Reverend Graham, these past two years in my journey of learning the truth about politics, religion, the real world, and our American history. Did I ask myself when was America a God-fearing country? Was America a God-fearing country when European immigrants came and conquered the Americans by almost wiping out the native American people? Was America a God-fearing country when they hung women for accusing them of witchery in Salem, or when the black community was slaves? I could go on.

As much as exceptional the United States has been over the years. We still have plenty of flaws as a nation. Having immigrant children locked in cages after being separated at the border, or drones killing innocent lives overseas. For the right-wing religious fanatics like Graham, it seems like the only time the United States is with God is when same-sex marriage wasn’t allowed or Christianity was in the public square because God forbid, we as a nation are considerate of people with different faiths.

My hope of this letter to the reverend is for him to think about his words how hurtful they can be to others, especially to people that have lost loved ones due to the corona virus and offer a sincere apology to the American people.
