Open Letter to the Editor of Miami New Times; Retract Your Sen. Rubio Hit Piece

The terrible things about tragedies, it always turns into politics and the victims are taken advantage of by the media. There are decent politicians like Marco Rubio who puts politics aside and actually tries to get things done in a bipartisan effort working with the victims and anyone who is willing to help. Mass shootings bring out the best and worse emotions of people because in general, no one wants to see these things happen where especially school students are the victims. At the same time, especially professional writers have an obligation, when writing their story to be factual even if it’s an opinionated piece.

The Miami New Times published a hit piece by Jerry Iannelli on Senator Marco Rubio taking an advantage to bad mouth the Senator because of politics and the writer wanting his own agenda. Senator Marco Rubio was inspired by a young Parkland, Florida mass shooting survivor by the name of Kyle Kushuv, who has been not only advocating the rights for the 2nd amendment while other survivors are calling for more gun control, he also has been calling for bipartisan effort, for both Republicans and Democrats to be able to work together to bring down mass shootings. Marco Rubio was inspired and taking time out to work with all Americans regardless of where they stand on this sensitive issue to make American schools safe once again. With this inspiration, he reaches out to Americans who have a following to be able to reach out to many people. I thought this was a noble act from Rubio because the American people deserve to see the people they vote in for do the job they were elected to do.

I call on the Editor in chief of the Miami New Times to not only take down this article, this disgusting hit piece on Senator Marco Rubio, who truly cares about Americans and their safety but also have the writer to publicly apologize to the Senator and to the victims of the mass shootings in Florida.

I want to personally take this moment to show what an honorable Senator Rubio is. I was working to get my VA compensation in order while I have been living in Israel for a few years. The red tape was getting me nowhere. I wrote a letter to my Senator which is Rubio, and he was able to make it happen. He is a good Senator and does not deserve this disrespect.
