Taking place at 7:30 PM, Rabbi Mordechai Lightstone and his wonderful family put on a fun and engaging get together to celebrate Shabbat.

I’ve been year after year, and find it a great way to connect with people I know from around the world, and of course, Israel. It’s produced by Mordechai and his wonderful wife, Chana, and of course, their three amazing boys.

Think of it as going to your grandmother’s for Shabbat, along with 350 of your favorite cousins. If your grandmother was a social media maven hosting a Shabbat meal at the heart of the world’s greatest digital festival, and your cousins worked at startups around the world.

Whether you been before, or this is your first time, no matter who you are, what your religious or spiritual beliefs might be, #openShabbat at SXSW is open to all.

After all, you’re family!
