Palestinian leader in Italy: ‘Revolt on Israeli embassies, like in Jordan!’

The leader of the Association of Palestinians in Italy, Mohammed Hannoun, called for revolts against the Israeli embassies in Arab countries, like the one that occurred this past week in Jordan.

The statement was made on Saturday March 30^th 2024 during a pro-Palestinian demonstration outside Milan’s Central Station. Hannoun, microphone in hand, concluded his speech by saying:

“I conclude, with applause to the Jordanian people, to the rebels in Jordan who forced the system to close the Israeli embassy. We call on all Arab people to do the same, to drive out all Israeli embassies, close them and turn them into centers for resistance. An applause for the resistance of Yemen, an applause for the resistance of Lebanon, of Iraq...”

Hannoun, who in the past was pictured with Ismail Haniyeh and Khaleed Meshaal, is already known in Italy for defining the October 7^th massacre as “self-defense” during an interview with Italian State TV Rai3 on October 10^th 2023 and for praising Hamas terror mastermind Yahya Ayyash.

In fact, on January 4^th 2024, Hannoun published a post, only in Arabic, saying:

“On this day, the cowardly assassination took place; Mercy to the martyrs; The legendary engineer martyr, who was a turning point in the history of the Palestinian resistance; Yahya Ayyash Abu Al-Baraa. Palestine today is in dire need of your patriotic spirit and vengeance for the spirit of the martyr Sheikh Saleh Abu Muhammad. Martyrs do not die”.

Ayyash was eliminated on January 5^th 1996 by the Shin Bet.

The second-last line of Hannoun’s post is dedicated to Saleh al-Arouri, a senior Hamas leader in Lebanon who died in a drone strike on January 2^nd, 2024.

The latter statements made by Hannoun on March 30^th are indeed of very serious concern and it will be interesting to see if the Italian authorities will take any measures this time.

Jordan as a street demonstration battleground for Hamas’ cause

Regarding the reference to the demonstrations in Amman, it seems that Jordan has become a major propaganda battleground for Hamas. On the morning of March 27, taking advantage of the pro-Palestinian demonstrations that took place in Jordan, the former leader of Hamas and current head of the Diaspora Office of the Palestinian terrorist organization, Khaled Meshaal, urged all Muslims in the world to support the fight so that “their blood mixes with that of the Palestinians“, as reported by the Times of Israel.

Meshaal’s statement came shortly after an audio message of just over 35 seconds, released online at the beginning of last week in which Mohammed Deif, the commander of Hamas’ armed wing, the Ezzedin al-Qassam Brigades, urges Muslims to “join the fight to liberate Al-Aqsa”.

The message is part of a recording by Deif dating back to the October 7 massacre, when Al Jazeera broadcast the announcement of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” attack on Israel.

“To our people in Jordan and Lebanon, in Egypt, Algeria, and the Maghreb, in Pakistan, Malaysia and Indonesia…Start marching now, not tomorrow, toward Palestine, and do not let borders, regimes, and restrictions deprive you of the honor of waging jihad and taking part in the liberation of the Al-Aqsa Mosque”.

Shortly after the Israeli offensive at the end of October 2023, when Hamas called for big global protests (the so-called Fridays of rage), few demonstrators poured into the squares of the Arab countries, while the largest demonstrations occurred in the West where Islamists and pro-Pal groups go side by side with far-left groups.

The demonstrations in Jordan may have rekindled Hamas’s hopes of possible solid demonstrations and uprisings in Arab countries, in support for Gaza.
