Penny Davidi – The Authority of Middle Eastern Cuisine with Cindy’s Corners
Celebrity Chef Penny Talks Persian Turkey, Reality TV & More With Cindy’s Corners
The Authority Of Middle Eastern Cuisine
Chef Penny Davidi is your typical modern day Jewish woman. She is a devoted wife and mama, successful businesswoman and proud of her heritage and blended family roots.
We spent a lot of time discussing her family’s Turkey contest. Penny’s Turkey includes variations of dried fruits, fruit juices and spices like saffron. Her husband’s recipe is more American traditional, with gravy and stuffing.
While it’s an exciting and competitive game, all of the guests end of the winners, since both turkeys are usually gone before the day ends. She also likes to experiment with traditional sides, making healthier versions that are just as tasty.
One of Penny’s favorite family gatherings is her Chanukah themed “Latke Bar,” something she adapts to other holiday gatherings and private parties for some of her clients. She prepares a variety of latkes with flavors like sweet potato and carrots and then she sets a toppings bar that features both sweet and savory choices for each guest to create their own favorite combinations. She calls this her “Jewish Taco Bar.”
She also likes like to create “mood boards” or her version of charcuterie boards. Her Persian-themed board seen below is one of her favorites.
Born in Iran and raised in California, Penny is the first Persian Jewish Chef and Businesswoman to be featured on hit culinary and reality television shows.
Raised with a strong family bond, some of Penny’s most cherished memories are from time with the women of her family in the kitchen where her love of cooking began. Trade and family secrets were learned and Penny soon learned how to fuse her knowledge and creativity alongside her big personality to develop innovative and dynamic recipes that we now get to witness on her shows and soon to be released lifestyle cookbook.
Penny’s expertise includes, but is not limited to menu development and concept redevelopment and execution. With extensive knowledge in trendsetting markets, Penny has a keen sense and her finger on the pulse in what is trending in the culinary industry. Innovative, strategic, driven and fierce are the adjectives that best describe this hard working and visionary woman.
I pride myself in the fact that I moved to the United States in 1979, I became a successful acupuncturist and doctor of holistic medicine, then redeveloped myself so many times; from television personality to a chef with no culinary background or training.
My goal is to empower, engage and lift up women.
