Please, Gd, Let It Last

Not the pain and worry – Please Gd, let those end already.  Help Tzahal find our boys, help us get word and find our MIAs, and let all the families have a good, healthy night’s sleep.

But some wonderful things are happening now, and I hope and pray that they last.

That everyone who came to pray for the boys will gather for a prayer of thanks.

That the thousands of Belze Hassidim who prayed for the boys and the soldiers will continue to appreciate the value of the Israeli Defence Forces, and continue to pray for our soldiers’ welfare.  As a journalist said today about the tefilla at Mearat haMachpeila, “the religious Zionist and Hareidim are praying together as if there were never any mahloket between them.”   May that continue!

And may the journalists of all stripes continue to look for what is good in “the other camps,” and share the beautiful sides of Am Yisrael that their own readers might not know.   (And may that spread to the media that haven’t figured out the value of ahdut yet.)

May the members of Knesset continue to open their eyes to honestly look where they made mistakes. For example, may Yisrael Hasson continue to call for the army to hold the Paliestinian Authority responsible for everything any arab under their rule does, even if it takes destroying their economy and their authority completely in order to get them to stop terror.  (I didn’t say it, he did.)

May our government continue to close down media in our land that spreads hatred for Jews or Israel.  And may Facebook continue to shut pages that are full of anti-Semitism.

May our soldiers continue to have the authority and backing to arrest suspected terrorists and their supporters, to reel in released terrorists who violated the terms of their pardon or who might have information that affects Israel’s security.  May our soldiers be given the green light at any time to confiscate all weapons stocked in private homes , schools and mosques, waiting for a chance to be aimed at Jews and Israeli citizens..

May the Israeli Left continue to question the wisdom of leaving our security in anyone else’s hands but the IDF and Gd.

May all members of Knesset continue to demand that only loyal citizens serve in the Israeli government or any other public service, and that anyone who feels that Israel is oppressing them get a free one-way ticket to Azza, Iraq, Syria or Iran.  Please, Gd, help them follow through on their plans to make changes.

May we continue to show appreciation for our non-Jewish citizens who stand with our nation.

May our corrupt politicians continue to be “found out.”  May the public and the courts continue to demand higher standards from our leaders.

Please, Gd, let us continue to recognize that we can take a few minutes out of our busy schedules to save another person’s life.  May we drive more carefully and more considerately.    May we continue to smile at every other Israeli, remembering that we are all family, we are all in this together.

May we continue to grow in our appreciation for our wonderful Jewish State, which might not be perfect, but it is home, it is our family and it is getting better all the time.  Please Gd, let our national pride last past this horrible nightmare, and carry us through good times and bad.
