President Biden, You Have a Historic Opportunity
Dear President Biden,
You have a historic opportunity to be remembered in the annals of world history: the chance to wipe-out Iran’s nuclear capabilities and prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear threat.
The Islamic majority in Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and Lebanon look to you to save them from the jihadist Ayatollah regime that has oppressed them for 45 years. You have a window of opportunity—perhaps just one month—to establish yourself as a decisive global leader. The largest Iranian ballistic missile assault on Israel’s civilian population presents a pivotal moment for you to eliminate the Iranian nuclear threat and strike at the regime that openly challenges the United States, the West, Israel, and moderate Muslim nations.
It has been 45 years since the U.S., under President Carter, made the fateful decision to abandon the pro-American regime of the Shah in favor of the Shia Ayatollahs. Today, Iran’s aggressive actions provide a just cause for military intervention.
The U.S. had ample reason to take action when Iran’s proxies in Iraq, Yemen, and Lebanon attacked American interests, targeted American military bases, disrupted maritime trade, and shot at vessels from multiple nations. The world’s greatest power needs to strike at the heart of the problem—the jihadist Shiite regime in Tehran. The recent firing of 180 ballistic missiles at Israel further justifies a U.S. response, potentially targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities and crippling its economy—not to punish the Iranian people, but to liberate them from 45 years of tyranny.
For the past six months, it appears that your Administration’s strategy has been to maintain quiet in the Middle East at all costs, potentially to avoid disrupting the electoral process. As someone with considerable experience in political campaigns, I recognize the political calculus at play—particularly the desire to secure the 2-3% of Muslim voters in states like Michigan who might abstain if the U.S. is seen as too supportive of Israel.
However, Mr. President, you are no longer campaigning. You are free to act in the best interests of the United States, without political considerations. Iran’s aggressive actions have given you the perfect pretext to strike and eliminate the looming nuclear threat. By doing so, you would not only secure the safety of the region, but also cement your legacy as a historic leader who saved the world from a grave threat.
If I were your advisor, I would tell you this: Iran has handed you a unique opportunity to be remembered alongside leaders like Churchill and Roosevelt—leaders who confronted and defeated the great evils of their time. Just as Churchill and Roosevelt stood against Hitler’s Nazi regime, and President Ronald Reagan stood against and eventually toppled the Soviet Union, you too can stand against the jihadist regime in Tehran.
Instead of taking a firm stand, however, your Administration has been limiting Israel’s ability to respond. Your condemnations of the Iranian regime have been weak, and your focus has been on restraining Israel’s actions rather than supporting a decisive response. By offering diplomatic platitudes, such as “The U.S. fully supports Israel’s right to defend itself…” while urging Israel to consult with you before retaliating, you have missed an opportunity to respond forcefully to a significant threat.
What would the U.S. reaction be if ballistic missiles were fired at Washington or New York? What would you do if Russia, China, or Iran launched such an attack on London, Berlin, or Rome?
Mr. President, the majority of the Middle East is looking to you for leadership. They expect you to stand up to oppressive regimes in Iran and Syria, and to free their countries—Yemen, Iraq, and Lebanon—from the grip of terrorist organizations. Your moderate Muslim allies are watching closely, evaluating the reliability of Washington as a partner. The people of the Middle East expect you to take decisive action against the aggressive encroachments of the Ayatollah regime.
This is a historic moment. The American people, and the world at large, will remember you for generations if you eliminate the nuclear threat from Tehran. Whether you choose to launch a direct strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities or to provide Israel with the necessary support to carry out the mission, your legacy as a defender of global security will be assured.
You have hours, days, or perhaps up to a month to seize this opportunity and go down in history as the leader who stood up to Islamic extremism. This is your chance to be remembered as Churchill 2024.
With the deepest respect,
Dr. Gil Samsonov
