Pro-lifer asks US government to keep funding Planned Parenthood

It’s been a little less than a month since I decided to make the move from being a hardcore conservative to a free thinking Independent American. I can’t help but give credit to the people who were open-minded enough to have the dialogue with me. Since then, I continue to learn new information with facts, insights and putting myself in other people’s shoes. This week’s topic is about Pro-Choice and Planned Parenthood.

As a conservative I once was, you informed how Planned Parenthood is this evil organization that murders babies. Now, mind you I am against abortion, so I wrongfully assumed that’s what this org did, just murder unborn children, so then I would go on in supporting a candidate of any office that would say they would call for defunding of Planned Parenthood. There have been different reports of President Trump and other government officials calling for defunding of this organization.

I decided to have a conversation with the new path of open minded dialoguing with my new liberal friends who are pro-choice, and yet again there were more facts this organization that seemed to be left out from conservative media. I have learned that Planned Parenthood is an organization that does more than just abortions. They are also a health care clinic that provides care to women, men and children. I have visited their website and found out that they help locate services to women that live in remote areas, and personally, I am thinking now that a safe abortion, (though I do not like them), is better than a dangerous one without medical supervision.

The more I spoke to pro-choice women, I understood how violating it can be for some government official, especially a male who could have the authority to dictate to a woman what she can or can’t do to her own body, regardless how we may feel about abortion, it’s still her body. Because when you look at the fetus, it’s almost like having a religion. There are different theologies and beliefs of God and a belief of no God, the US Constitution gives the right to practice our faith regardless of what it may be, the fetus also has different definitions of what it is. God also gave us the right of free will, which is also part of the US Constitution when it especially when it talks about liberty, which is freedom, so with that being said, I call on to the leaders of the United States, to continue to fund Planned Parenthood because of it’s outstanding medical care to women, men and children around the country.

Last few things I want to leave you with. A friend of mine who is pro-choice told me, and I recommend this to you as well, but “close your eyes and imagine your access to healthcare is taken away from you. Also imagine you are the primary caretaker of your children and have a job, and that if you want care you must find a babysitter, take a day off work and drive 10 hours there and back.” When leaders make decisions, they got to look at it from all sides.
