Reb Shlomo was penniless. When he passed away, money had to be collected to pay for the grave. Money to him was only a way to help his family and everyone else. Every need that came his way he had to meet.
He only owned two things, a guitar and a library.
The residents of his Moshav all survived the raging Lag ba’Omer forest fire. So Reb Shlomo’s spirit in their hearts was saved. But his books?
His books were in two locations in the burned-down Moshav. First, in a separate building that was sorting, cataloguing and exposing his library.
It turns out the blaze covered these books in soot but … they survived.
And in his former house at the Moshav were also books, stashed away in a closed room. The house burned down but the books there survived too.
This was not just a random stack of books. This is the library of arguably the greatest Talmid Chacham of the previous generation.
So G^d did His part. Now we need to maintain doing ours; to continue to give generously to help the Chevre to survive and rebuild physically.
