Schrodinger’s spies

It’s easy to go down the rabbit hole of paranoia in this post-truth world where any nut job who can’t string two sentences together but uses seemingly ”arcane” words can impress a bunch of morons or idealists. Or maybe it was always so. Conman is a confidence man, after all – someone who wants to sell you a particular version of reality, a particular truth, to fool you into giving him or her money, power, sex, so on. Basically – your mind.

It’s easy to look around and see potential spies everywhere. FSB, CIA, Mossad, and so on. It’s what I call Schrodinger’s spies. They are there but they are not there. You just don’t know. I’d bet the number of paranoid schizophrenics has skyrocketed in recent years, but can you blame people for being paranoid? Now, apart from spies, you have stooges – aware or unaware of their stooge status – who are used by spies as puppets. It’s a part of a hybrid warfare strategy. In my Kyiv Post article about hybrid warfare, I state:

”We’re all targets of hybrid warfare. We all need to pay attention to what’s going on around us much more than before the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. We need to do background checks on people we want to do business with or enter into a relationship with. We’re all at risk of being used as props in a Russian (not just Russian, of course, could as well be Iranian and so on) intelligence game if we aren’t careful. Mind you, careful doesn’t mean paranoid.”

”There isn’t a more conducive environment to recruiting potential spies, stooges and operatives than the gig economy, coupled with a steady stream of refugees from war-torn countries, desperate to earn money just to survive. People who won’t question the background of a potential recruiter. People who just need the money, regardless of its source.”

”Financially desperate people are being recruited by Russian security services to take part in surveillance operations, such as taking pictures of critical infrastructure, train tracks and airports vital for the Ukrainian war effort. Some likely know that they are taking part in a Russian intelligence operation – a Pole speaking with a heavy Russian accent is obviously not who he says he is – but eating is more important than lofty notions of patriotism or honor.”

Now, I’ve read a comment by a former high-ranking member of special services here in Poland who said that, ”If someone says he or she is Polish and has a heavy foreign accent, that’s a reason to be suspicious.”

Well, with such incisive insights, I know we are in good hands here in Poland. In all seriousness, though, I hope such comments are only misdirects because you don’t need a spook for such ”revelations.” Schlomo Schlekenstein down at the bar could have come up with much better insights. Here’s a quote from my Kyiv Post article, ”Beware of the Z-Cult Among us.”

Deep-cover spies

Lydia Guryev, a former Russian spy in the US, posed as Cynthia Murphy and lied to her American neighbors about her accent being Belgian. Her nice, and somewhat naive, American neighbors believed her, but someone clearly didn’t. A foreign accent attracts attention, and not always the kind of attention you want. You may think accents don’t matter, but that’s not the case when you want to blend into American society. Deep-cover spies must speak perfect American English and understand US culture. It makes no sense for Russia to send spies with foreign accents unless these so-called deep cover agents are mere misdirections to make US law enforcement and intelligence agencies complacent.

You need a modicum of logic to know spy networks are like Russian dolls. You expose one, another one is still operating somewhere. Who knows, maybe with artificial intelligence capable of flawlessly detecting deception and even hacking our minds, spies and propagandists will be out of a job soon. For now, propagandists are here to stay, brainwashing entire societies.”

See? You don’t need to have anything to do with special services and just use common (not-so-common?) sense to see through some of the mind games, gaslighting, maskirovkas, red herrings and charades.

On another note, but still somewhat spycraft-related, I see that the leader of Hamas is rumored to be hiding in Gaza. He is, of course, disguised as a woman. He’s probably covered from head to toe, I doubt he’d be convincing as a woman with such a ratty face, then again, who knows what his makeup artists are capable of. Even an ugly duckling can be given a marvelous makeover. He’d better not get captured and just die like a man or else he’s really gonna need a new name in prison.

A girl’s name.

Maybe he’s going to end up like Richard Speck the serial killer but that’s not an image I want seared into my mind. You’re tempted to look him up now, aren’t you? Well. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
