Israel’s Channel 2 says it was “the storm of the century.”
Ditto Channel 10.
Times of Israel wrote “Jerusalem is crippled” after “worst storm in decades.”
Meanwhile, Israel’s Russian TV channel broadcasts “lovely autumn weather, perfect for a leisurely stroll on Shabbat.”
(Laugh with us, people. It’ll help keep you warm.)
But seriously, now that the storm is over, and the roads are opening, and the electricity is trickling back into the thousands upon thousands of homes that went without during that long, dark Sabbath, we have to admit: Snow can be freaking gorgeous.
And besides, let’s be real: It’s a good day in Israel when the big news story is about the weather.
So… let’s check out some epic snow pics.

To paraphrase Benji Lovitt: “People of the Gush, STOP BUILDING SNOWMEN! John Kerry is going to think we’re expanding settlements!”

Israeli soldiers and emergency workers drive on armored personnel carriers in Jerusalem December 14, 2013. Jerusalem’s heaviest snow for 50 years forced Israeli authorities to lift a Jewish Sabbath public transport ban on Saturday and allow trains out of the city where highways were shut to traffic. Troops in armored vehicles were helping emergency services crews to try to restore electricity for thousands in the Jerusalem area. (Photo credit: Yossi Zamir/Flash90)
