You are entitled to my opinion

Statements of fact that are anything but

I love to watch different talking heads and their “expert” guests speak about the Israeli Arab conflict.
We need to define expert first. My definition of an expert is a person with a suitcase from out of town.
The hosts read confidently from their Teleprompters as their guests recite their talking points. The ones that particularly make me cringe are the statements like.
“There is no military solution to this conflict”.
The only solution to this conflict is a 2 state solution.
“Traditional Arab east Jerusalem”.
There are many more but I will now put on my “expert” outfit (grabbing suitcase) and comment on these “indisputable” facts.

There is no military solution to this conflict.

Is there a military solution to a conflict, any conflict? Well let’s see now let’s name a few.
The American Civil war:
That war was over when the other side surrendered at Appomattox. This followed a long military campaign against the south.
WW2: This war ended after the allies marched across Europe and destroyed the German and Italian armies. After being surrounded by the Soviets Hitler shot himself in the head. No political solution there. The remaining leadership Germany surrendered unconditionally.
I could go on but I believe that you get the point.
If a military or a people are threatening the annihilation of another people then I believe that this should be said instead.
THERE IS NO POLITICAL SOLUTION TO THIS CONFLICT. That is more in line with reality. Facts are you cannot negotiate with someone who wants you dead. Do you negotiate the terms of your death? Sorry so we need to now replace this in our lexicon.
One more time. THERE IS NO POLITICAL SOLUTION TO THIS CONFLICT.
THERE IS NO POLITICAL SOLUTION TO ANY CONFLICT WHERE ONE SIDE WANTS TO DESTROY THE OTHER.
2. The only solution to this conflict is the two State solution.
Really? This could be an entire book written on this, oh there is, read Caroline Glick and she will dispute this statement, however since I am now an “expert” I will chime in a bit.
If the two state solution was such a great idea then why has the people who claim that they want a state turned it down at least 5 times?
If the two state solution was so important to the Palestinians (now that is another term that I will speak about) then why do the latest polls show that a very large majority of “Palestinians” do not want it?
Two States for Two peoples: That is another one that drives me crazy.
The Palestinians:
Who are the Palestinians? They are actually Jews which prior to Yasser Arafat and his publicity machine, did not view themselves as Palestinians. They are Arabs mostly from Syria some from Egypt, some indigenous to the area along with Jews. The term Palestinian was not used when Egypt controlled Gaza. Nor was it used when Jordan controlled Judea and Samaria (ancient Israel), (The West bank) yet another term that was foisted on the world.
Palestinians the new fictitious made up people have no shared culture, no shared history. In short they did not ever have a Country they never had a culture they never were a “People”. This is not to deny that there are Arabs in Israel or the disputed territories captured after yet another attack on Israel.
3. Traditional Arab East Jerusalem: What tradition? Al Jazeera’s? Jerusalem has always been the center of Judaism since biblical times. Jews have recited the words “next year in Jerusalem “at every holiday and Sabbath. Do you know how many times Jerusalem was mentioned in the Quran? 0, none, nada, never. The dome of the mosque was built over the temple mount during the over 30 years of Islamic rule. That “tradition” came from Islamic conquests. They often built mosques directly over the holiest places of the conquered thus we have the Al Aqsa mosque directly over the bones of Solomon’s temple on the temple mount.

In short there is no political solution to the war against Hamas.
I am a Palestinian before Palestinian was cool (in some quarters).
I will enjoy traveling to traditional Jewish Jerusalem.
The only real solution to this conflict is to speak the truth about so called indisputable terms.

Thanks
