Symphony of Psalms for Psalms 1 and 2

Symphony of Psalms for Psalm 1
(In Memory of Dr. Lena Allen -Shore and Solomon Bergstein who recited Psalms each day)

This Psalm opens a road map to the soul,
An inner journey that touches the hem
Of eternity, with past to future,
Giving life an agenda of purpose.

With our road map to avoid obstacles
On our journey through valleys, mountains, fields,
Navigating the seas, crossing rivers,
Swimming the streams of daily life.

With balsam and poultice for our wounds
That strike us unexpectedly with force.
The Psalm, thus, offers solace, comfort, hope
That we are not abandoned, left alone.

A day will dawn when Spring will never end,
Giving us faith with a new breath of life.

Symphony of Psalms for Psalm 2

Righteousness recalled for generations,
Challenges the onslaught of history.
The passage of justice tarries through time,
Night after night for the arrival of dawn.

Fighting despair, anguish and loneliness.
The soul hibernates in distant dimensions,
Separates itself from desperate mind;
Awaits the Shofar call of redemption.

It arrives without fanfare, like a child,
So long-awaited by its frenzied parents,
Who now find rest from history’s travails,
Ready to encounter another day.

Finally, realizing that justice lives,
Only to be found in the Divine’s time.
