The complete idiot’s guide to Mideast peace – part 150

Rockets fired from Lebanon as attacks from Gaza continue | The Times of Israel  ‘Ashdod gas station hit; Elderly woman dies on way to shelter after siren sounds in Haifa for first time since 2006 war; 7 Palestinians killed in overnight airstrikes’

Iron Dome game-changer in latest round of fighting | The Times of Israel  ‘By shooting down more than 90% of rockets, system ensures decisive edge that helps Israel operate virtually unhindered’

It seems that prospects for a full-scale Israeli ground attack are now looking much more likely while those of a cease-fire have been diminished almost to vanishing point. Any cessation in the violence would appear to be a forlorn hope at the moment, the supposition being that things have to become far worse before they can get any better. Or just return to some barely tolerable level, waiting as the spring winds up once again to get the next round in this unending contest under way.

Then it may be time to think about breaking that spring entirely or, at the very least, finding some method that can wind it back down even as it is being wound up.
