The complete idiot’s guide to Mideast peace – part 168

Netanyahu: IDF prepared for expansion of ground op | The Times of Israel  ‘Abbas heads to Turkey for ceasefire talks; IDF soldier killed overnight in Gaza identified as Eitan Barak, 20, from Herzliya; at least 14 Hamas fighters killed since troops entered Strip; IDF tackling Hamas tunnels, infrastructure’

An expansion of the ‘ground operation’ will undoubtedly cause more casualties than those so far listed as dead, missing or wounded. The benefits that are likely to accrue to Israel may be of some significance in the short term but, over the longer run, very little will have changed all that much.

Then is ‘expansion’ of this ground operation a good thing or bad?

It may all depend on just how far everyone is prepared to expand their horizons and the conflict itself. And to what limits might then be reached.
