If these current peace talks have really collapsed, then where is the back-up plan? What about the fail-safe scenario? Why is there no defence-in-depth, no alternate position from which to proceed?
If Mr. Kerry was sinking every last hope for success into this one, nine-month stint at peace negotiations, then he and all those around him must be viewed as rank amateurs, blundering aimlessly about in that tortuous minefield otherwise known as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Even if these most high-profile, long-extended and internationally supported negotiations on the subject of Middle East peace were always destined to nosedive into acrimonious oblivion, then a Plan B should have been waiting in the wings, primed and ready to take over if and when the necessity arose. Or, better still, working in tandem with Plan A.
